Perhaps, but the sound is much louder in the rear than the front.

Replacing an entire front suspension on an early 944 costs like 50 bucks.

New control arms, polygraphite bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, paragon coilover conversion while you're at it, etc etc.

Front suspension was one of the first things I overhauled on my 944, fun stuff.

All of that is $50?? Please, show me where I can find this seemingly awesome deal!

Its quite a bit more than $50 for a full front suspension overhaul. What I think Keith is saying is that compared to the 85.2 and up, its significantly cheaper and easier, especially when the ball joints are being replaced.

As for the wheel locks, keep being patient. They'll loosen up. When they do, its time to replace them with standard Porsche black lug nuts. No reason to risk being trapped on the road side due to the locks freezing.

Exaggerated to make a point

Control arms are ~$25, ball joints ~$15, tie rod ends ~$15, etc etc. All super cheap especially compared with late cars. Mainly due to them being VW parts IIRC.

Time to start a new project list! Also, here's my poor attempt at documenting the sound coming from the front suspension.

Best of luck to you Karl.
My '83 944 and I are still getting acquainted as well.
They are lovely.

Thanks! This truly is the best car I've ever driven.

The Porsche 944 is one of the finest cars that I have ever driven personally. This is why I own one of each, early and late. I personally don't think I could ever be without one or two in my stable of cars. Don't think I could ever part with either of them. Every time I toss around the idea I just can't do it.

I never driven a late car. I've ridden in my friend's built '89 2.7 and it just sounds more refined than mine. I have to come back down sometime, but my summer job has me booked almost all day now. My dad and I are coming down for the NHRA Nationals the first week of July; but I forgot when you're having your summer get-together?

I find so many things I have to take care of this summer!

1. Suspension
2. Rust spots or exposed spots on rocker panels
3. Fog lights
4. Repaint lower bumper

I think that's all for now...

How does the pads and rotors look? Are the pads down to the metal backing plate? Are the rotors badly scored? Be sure to check the back of the rotors as well.

My dad and I will most likely be there; albeit slightly late because he works Saturday mornings.

Looks like a really nice condition car! I've got the same color(almost) and love it.

Hard to tell what noise is going on in the video, I'm still chasing noises on mine. How is your rear hatch condition? I know noises can travel sometimes, trying to isolate them can be really hard.

By any chance you ever get out to Woodward on the weekends?

I have to take a better video this week. I'm actually heading to Munk's in Waterford in a few; maybe they can tell me what's up! The hatch seems to be in good shape from what I can tell.

I'm on Woodward every weekend! Even during the week sometimes. Have you seen me around by chance?
