The 1978-1983 911SC Targa may just be the answer for normal, hardworking, underpaid folks who have always dreamed of owning a classic 911.

Here is one in Vancouver BC from Weissach. They are a very reputable dealer and usually only sell quality car but the price is also higher.
1983 Targa with 90k miles CAD$58,900 or aprox. US$45,000.
Is that considered a reasonable price?

^ no one in their right mind will pay that kind of money for that car....but then again look at the Vancouver real estate market.
Here's a driver that sold on BAT a couple of weeks ago.

Cozy 71 year old home sells for CAD$4.19M which is CAD$1M over asking price. Oh but it has a view. Lot size is approx 40ft by 100ft.

Kinda makes the Targa price reasonable.

Sometimes, but not necessarily. Middies are no longer the runts of the litter, in general. Big attrition over the years dictates that there are few unmolested good ones left. Clean understated lines, chrome trim, etc. appeal to certain kind of buyers. 74s trade higher than later middies usually.

That this is behind us now and these cars are taking there rightful place.
There may be some good deals to be had on cars that may need some body panels or engine rework . Having done my SC rebuild and found the information available I would have no fear in redoing a 2.7 motor if the price was right ..
The internet has changed everything and the information is around to recover some of the middies at a reasonable cost.

They have usually been considered the undesirable of the group due to big unknowns with rust ( non galvanized ) and weak motors.
