Yeah, right.
Oh man! That is amazing. A lucky boy, indeed.
Richard Tuthill has rallied here in the US. It's a whole different world in Europe. That car would easily be a top 5 finisher (overall) here. In WRC it's probably slightly better than mid-pack. But what a great idea and so well executed.
So Paul - let me know when you want to convert your car to stage rally duty. You've got a lucky boy waiting...

I picked up some Castrol transmission oil. Thought we'd give it a try.
and the new clutch arrived from Pelican.
No, we didn't forget to install the ring gear.
Offered it up to the engine which accepted it graciously.
And slapped it all back in the car.
I hope to drive it home tonight

So did I miss the LSD install? You've got LSD lube - that stuff will never work without an LSD in there...

And after I installed this new cutch spring I drove it home
Transmission seemed to work fine. Clutch still needs adjusting though. Blows my mind that I can single handedly put back the engine and transmission but it needs two people to adjust the clutch! The speedo doesn't work, probably because I forgot to connect the wires in the transmission tunnel; and the oil gauge is pegged at 5 despite a new sender. Should all be easy fixes. Think I'll drag it up to the Sno*Drift Rally tomorrow.

Was going to update then got bombarded with wheel sales. I bet you're all holding your breath right? Well, I did drive it home that night and I did take it to Sno*Drift. We decided though not to run it as green light as we didn't feel we'd put enough miles on it to risk it. Well, we have now! The car ran like a champ and was a huge hit where ever it went. People were gathering round it like flies round sh...well, you get the picture. Speaking of which, here's a few I found on Facebook, mostly.
Love this one
Not sure what's next for the car. maybe some ice racing.

Looks like a Hot Wheels car now.
Not to be critical, but I think 16" wheels would have been the perfect size. Whether that was an option, I don't know. Still looks great.

I agree Scott but 15" and 16" tires are becoming scarce in wider street tires so the market is demanding 17" wheels for their 17" tires. I don't need 17s for what we do with the car (race) but felt we had to represent the new wheels.

Hey Paul,
I don't have that picture that you are using in your signature. Can you send me a hi-res version? It might need to take the place of my current desktop background...
That was taken at our farm, correct?

Yep, at the farm. On its way Scott. It might take a while to get to you as you were driving.

Than again it could be due to the fact that I didn't get my usual number (11).
Anyway - it makes for a great desktop background!
Thanks for the pic and more importantly the chance to share that car with you. That's pretty much the most fun I've had, in a front seat, outside of stage rallying.

Yes, it was good fun. I learned a lot too.
Oh - yeah. That was taken at the season ender in 2013. I drove like a total ****** that day. I'm still blaming it on my mental state (worring about furture employment).

Here are a few iPhone snaps I took during a recent photo shoot in Detroit. Proper pictures to follow. Yes, 17" replica wheels!
