12-13-08 Sebring Shakedown with BrokeAss (Terry Riedel) VIDEO
After taking delivery of my 993 from Vortex Motorsport in Tampa last week, I decided to take it to Sebring where I have virtually NO experience for a shakedown run.... Terry Riedel (BrokeAss) was kind enough to make the drive down from Tampa for some coaching. The shakedown run revealed only one small issue in that the rear lexan was being deflected at speed and would "pop" back in form upon threshold breaking...you can clearly hear this in the video under heavy braking, but it made for quite a few WTF's? in the morning run. Bracing for the rear lexan is pending. Otherwise, the car performed wonderfully (especially when Terry was driving).
I can't say enough good things about Terry - his method of coaching is just my style and I feel fortunate to have spent a day with him at Sebring. Thanks again Terry! You are good people.
On Sunday I drove the new PBIR....eh, it was ok, but fun as well.
Video (edited to remove traffic - I don't think we ever got a clean lap):
The "Watch in High Quality" blue text link is MUCH better viewing.

Rob, My lexan windscreen did the same thing, a simple carbon fibre brace will help. Do a search, I posted the fix on the 964 forum. At about 100mph, the wind pressure pushed it into the car and under braking would pop back out, just like you mention.

That was a fun day at the track! I wasn't going to miss an opportunity to hitch a ride in Pappa-Smurf! The car is sweeet! The 3.8 has all kinds of torque and the RS gearbox makes a difference.
An alternative to bracing the rear window would be to replace your rear quarter panels with vented ones. That will help spill the air. ....or simply vent the rear lexan.
