George Harrison’s Porsche Headed to Auction
Legendary Beatle’s 928 Expected to Nab $25,000 at Auction
When Leeds native Raj Sedha purchased this unassuming black 928 back in 2003, he intended to use it as a parts car. Well, that is until his wife happened to take a look at the documents that came with the car. That’s when she noticed that the vehicle registration had a very familiar name on it: George Harrison. And even though Sedha hilariously didn’t know who Harrison was at the time, thankfully his wife did.
Once he realized that he was in possession of a car owned and driven by a member of The Beatles, Sedha stored the car for eight years before deciding to restore and sell it. George Harrison’s Porsche 928 was one of over 100 sports cars owned by the musician over the years. He kept this one for three years while living at Friar Park in Henley-on-Thames.
Now fully restored, the Porsche 928 is expected to nab upwards of $25,000 when it crosses the block at an Omega Auction on March 17 in England. The auction will also feature a large number of other collectible Beatles items. They include a film with unseen footage of the band, rare photographs, and a “holy grail” vinyl record.
But the shining star of the auction, at least in our opinion, is the black on black 928. With a reasonable estimate, it should be a great buy for one lucky Beatles fan. As auctioneer Paul Fairweather told The Daily Mail: “For anybody that’s into cars and The Beatles, this is a must-have.”
