What Should You Do With a 928 Porsche After It Catches Fire?

While Ferraris are more commonly known for their sudden desire to become expensive rolling fire pits, this time it was a poor Porsche 928.

Long time Rennlist forum member Vanster recently had a close encounter with the other side when his recently-tuned 928 caught on fire as he was driving on a public road. What’s even worse, is that he may have a clue at what caused the problem, but isn’t completely certain.

Vanster explains that he recently had replaced the fuel injectors, and all of them but one worked flawlessly. After an “improvised” fix, he thought everything was working according to normal, until he fueled up at a gas station and noticed the same injector problem. Once that got his attention, he barely had enough time to pull over and exit the car. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

The question is now what should he do with the car?

“The interior is perfect including the dash. What happens to the motor in a situation like this? I’m not going to part it out myself as I don’t have the time nor the space to do it. The motor has 290hp at the rear wheels and that was only at 4500 rpm. Now it has about 6,000 miles on it. Everything was new, clutch, motor mounts etc.” Vanster writes in the thread.

What do you think he should do?
