Pirelli dry rot at <5k miles??
All 4 tires
Is this typical?
Are these safe?
Seems like a chronic issue based on google hits.

How old are these tires? I see 5000 miles, but time wise, how old?
What causes this? Ozone attack of soft Italian rubber? I guess Michelin Pilot Sport or Sport Cup 2 is the way to go...

Date code was later 2012.
After making me do the dance with three separate trips to the dealer, the Porsche rep told me they couldn't do anything.
I then go to the local tire dealer and they took care of it in all of 10 mins with a call to Pirelli.
Adjusted invoice is about 450$ for a new set.
Thanks for nothing PCNA. Not sure this helps ur brand loyalty.

2012 is pretty new for them to be doing this.
5 years is a general wear-out age for tires when the elastomers inside the rubber start to deteriorate. Obviously driving use, time in the sun, weather conditions, etc. also factor in.
Glad Pirelli helped out. Sad that Porsche did not.

I took a set in trade for some work done that were 4 years old only to see when I got them that they were exactly like this. I'm sure they are on someones car who was dumpster diving now.
