Default Wheel Finish

I love a great looking set of rims - but I also equally dislike being a slave to brake dust.

Has anyone had their wheels colored to hide the dust? If so, what color/finish did you select?

A dark gray obviously would hide the dust.

Is this purely to avoid the cosmetics of brake dust?

Brake dust can be corrosive. Not something I'd want to just leave on the wheel for a long time.

My winter wheels are anthracite color and I bought them specifically to hide the dust. They never look dirty by comparison. I would keep them on year round if the boss would let me.

Do you know if:

1) The center caps were colored to match
2) If powder coated, the actual color?

Wheel coatings can be a great help in easing the cleaning routine for wheels.

I got tired of my wheels looking grungy 15 seconds into the first drive after a wash, so i had the wheels on my 996 C2 and the GT3 painted a gloss black. they look great.

On a related note, what do you guys use to strip off brake dust and road gak?

Thanks - I was leaning towards trying the Griots HDWC product. I'll grab a bottle at AutoZone tonite and check it out

This would be your most economical choice. Keeps the brake dust from clamoring.

i've heard using regular car wax liberally applied will help keep mud, dirt, and probably brake dust off the metal.

A great finish for hiding brake dust is going to be your darker gun-metals, platinum and tinted finishes. Here are some examples we have finished for other customers.
