Question 8" Rear Wheels on an '88 924S ?

Will 8Jx16 C2, Turbo, or Design 90 wheels fit on the rear of an 88 924S? I'm having a real hard time finding some 16" wheels (not phone dials) to fit my 924S. I can find lots of sets of 4 with 7J front and 8J rears for sale. Will the 8" ones rub at the back?

Thanks as usual friends.

Hi There,

It's good to see a post from another 88 924S owner. I have an 88 924S Racecar and have had a variety of wheels on it. You should be fine with any 7"front and 8" rear combination as long as the offsets are around 52 mm. The design 90 rears are 8' with 52.3 mm offset and should bolt right on. Depending on the tires you use, you may have to fine tune the camber a little or even roll the inner fender lips. I had to do this to get 225-50/16 Hoosiers to fit without rubbing but these are very wide for a 225. I can tell you that, a while back when my car was totally stock, a bought a used set of 87 944 Turbo phone dials with the original tires on them, and they fit right on with no rubbing anywhere. These wheel/tires where 7"x16", 52.3 mm offset fronts with 205-55/16 ties and 8"x18", 52.3 mm offset rears with 225-50/16 tires. The tires were premium Dunlops but I can't remember the model.

Good Luck!

i have a 1988 924S SE and have been using 15" telephone dials but now find it difficult to get the type of tires I like to use and am thinking of getting 16" wheels. Not sure if I can use 18" wide ones at the rear. I may have to roll the fenders. I already had the fronts done
