Will 305/30 tire fit 10X18 wheel?
Posted this Q on the 996 board too. I searched the archives to no avail. Do I need a wider wheel?

It will fit, however an eleven inch wheel may be better. Your tire manufacturer can tell you for sure. I have 315/45x18 on a 12 inch wheel and the manufacturer recommends 10.5 to 12 for that tire.
I don't think you 'need' a wider wheel if you are wanting to stay with what you have for that tire size.

Not to put you off, but the Tire Rack website has some great info on tires - widths,wheel sizes, diameters, etc. for all the tire they sell. Might help.
