RE-11, AD08, HTR Z III?
I've come down to these 3 tires for my '03 Boxster S.
RE-11
AD08
HTR Z III
The car is admittedly a garage queen having only 19K miles in 7 years. My conundrum is the 1 or 2 autocrosses we do a year. I have a set of 17's with 615's on them that are worn out and I'm looking to sell those rims and stick with the lightweight BBS 18's that are on the car now for both uses.
The car is setup with the ROW sport suspension and a fairly aggressive alignment. As a point of reference I tried the pre-N spec PS2's in my sizes about 5 years ago and HATED them. far too much sidewall flex, the car felt loose at speed and that was confirmed by two other drivers. The N-Spec PS Ribs have a good steering feel but have marginal. at best grip. I guess what I'm saying is stiff sidewalls and sharp steering are high on my list. Tires with too much sidewall flex (slip angle) don't suit this car or my driving style.
If the AD08's weren't on a 4 month back order I'd probably order them today but since they aren't available that really brings it down to the RE-11's for an ultimate tire. The Sumi's, OTOH have quite a following here and since they are almost $400 cheaper I think they deserve another look.
So, help me decide. I'm especially curious to hear from people who have experienced both, especially on a Boxster and who understand my comments on steering precision and sidewall flex.

Update, Just had the RE-11's put on the car today and first impressions after 100 or so miles is I made the right decision. Overall the ride is much better than the Pilot Ribs, they grip better the the 615's and they aren't as loud as the 050A's. Overall, these are well worth the money.
