Advice on Wheels and Tires for DE Duty on 997S
Hi everyone,
I am looking to get a set of wheels and tires for DE duty on my 997S. I will not race or anything like that but can tell you that on my 996 I had a knockoff set of Cup2 Wheels and Kuhmo V700 Shaved and heatcycled and really enjoyed the grip and not tearing up street tires. I am a pretty solid driver but am not super agressive.
1. I wanted somethint that is correct hub and offset size, no rings or anything goofy like that.
2. What is a solid price, performer track tire for DE duty these days (been away for 3-4 years)
3. I thought about factory lobster claw 19's (I really like the look, I know it is nutes) but wonder if a +1 to 20 inch would yield better tire choices/pricing?
Anyone with info or thoughts here on this I would greatly appreciate a little knowledge/help.
Many thanks in advance....

Ok- so what if I answered my own question, kinda..
Ok here is what I am doing.
I am going to buy a set of 19" "Lobster Claw" factory 997S standard wheels that someone takes off their car to upgrade to something else.
For Tires I called my local Porsche shop and one of the Techs got on the phone and gave me a nice idea.
Fronts Stock on my car are 235/35-19
Rears Stock are 295/30-19
The fronts on my C2S are the same size as a stock 19" GT3 or Turbo 997 but the rear is why my choices were limited when shopping before (and the cause of my post). The Stock rear on a 997 GT3 or Turbo is 305/30-19. The Tech at the dealer told me that even though the 305 is taller than the stock 295 it is well within the range of acceptable variance for PSM to not mind and as long as I have a C2S or a C4S (wider body) the 305 will fit and work just fine. So to that point I will be buying Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires like the GT3 runs. Should work great on the track if not a little pricey.
Hope that info helps someone, or if you have done this please share your experiences.

I would strongly recommend to look for a set of 18" tires. Tire size selection and availability is much better. They also cost a lot less.
You can start with a used set of Carrera 18" wheels, but keep away from Turbo/C4S wheels. They have the wrong offset out back, will stick out and rub on lowered cars. I wanted to go wider, so I had a set of CCW 3-piece Classic race wheels built in 18x9.0" front and 18x11.0" rear. They were half the price of a set of iForced, Forgeline, etc. They were even less than a used set of GT3 wheels. For the 997, they build 18x9.0" front and 18x12.0" rears.
For tires, it depends on how much camber you are looking at running. Don't go with MPSCs or R888s unless you are running over 1.5 negative camber all the way around. Otherwise you will get very little benefit from a set of tires you will wear out too quickly. Kumhos may be good autocross tires, but they are well below any of the good road race tires running at the track. If you are running lower camber, I would recommend to go with Corsas or NT01s.
