I was told by CCW that the offsets are 30 front and 25 rear. I am pretty sure that rear offset requires some aggressive fender rolling.

Hello Mark,
I would buy these for my 2000 Boxster S in 18". I need 8" wide with ET 52 in front and 10" wide with ET of 52 in the rear.

Don, a factory 9x16 Fuch has an offset of 15mm. I'm not sure you want to stray too far from that. 25mm seems like a lot considering that with a 9" rim and 275 tire you run into clearance issues with the alignment nuts. That's with a Fikse offset which is very close to the Fuchs offset. If I were to increase the offset on my wheels 8mm (to yield a total offset of 25mm) I don't think it would fit, even with the shaved alignment nuts....but maybe that's just my car. With a 255 tire you have more room to play but why not get the wheel as far outboard as possible? To do this you want as less offset, not more.

So I've been in contact with the manufacturer this week and perhaps all hope is not dead. I would need to order 20 sets in each staggered size.

So far I'm at:
18x8.5 +45 and 18x10.5 +58
17x8.0 +45 and 17x9.0 +50

Thoughts on sizing? Does anybody know the centrebore size for a 996/986? Bolt pattern is 5x130 right?

I'm expecting to be somewhere around
17x8.0 16.0lbs $299
17x9.0 17.0lbs $329
18x8.5 18.0lbs $339
18x10.5 19.0lbs $369

But as always, I prefer to underpromise and overdeliver so lets see what's what.

I know 997s would like an 11" rear wheel, but I suspect most other cars cant accomodate an 11" rear wheel? 996s run 18x8 and 18x10 OEM, so it's a 1/2" upsize on front and rear. Thoughts?

We couldn't persuade you to offer the mid-year offsets huh? (8x17 ET31, 9x17 ET18)

At under $1,300 a set I think you would have a lot of interest. The next best options (for track worthy wheels) are Kodiak & CCW ($2200+), BBS ($2,750+), and Fikse ($3,000+).

I wouldnt say never, I'd just have to order a minimum order of 20 sets in the best case scenario. If I'm only going to do two sizes to start, I think the 951/996/986/997/987 market is bigger. However, if I could get a group buy of some sort with some deposits happening, I couldnt see it being a problem.

Recently I went through a bunch of research looking for another set of wheels for my GT3. I really wanted to believe in these D-Force wheels but after some time with google I found the odd post like this:

FWIW I know someone who bent one of his his new D-Force wheels on their first track outing and has since bent two others. All this in one season.
He's certainly no little old lady driver, but I wouldn't call him violent or careless either. YMMV.
The problem may go back to the simple 5-spoke design. The wheel has a wide area of no real support between each spoke. Enough pressure in the wrong place and it can bend.

I use CCW C14s for my V710 tires and I ordered a set of CCW C10s for track use just last week. I went with the C10s because they are a bit lighter than the C14s, but I also want a strong wheel. After talking to John at CCW and what he has designed these wheels to withstand, I know they'll get the job done.

I hope these D-Force wheels work out for you guys.

Well we'll have to see on that regard. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with the manufacturer today and he had some interesting insight on the product. His comment is while the d-force brand is new in the race wheel business, they have been manufacturing OEM wheels and replicas for just under 16 years and they certainly arent new to the business as a whole. As for Porsche specific rear wheel requirements, we'll have to see. The MY02 Carrera Lightweight is an incredibly thin 5-spoke design that seems to function properly and has been approved by Porsche for OEM use so it cant be limited to spoke thickness and spacing. These wheels are designed very closely to the shape of the 5Zigen FN01R wheel which is a very popular wheel in Japanese racing circles. In the BMW circles they are incredibly well received and that one hearsay post is the first negative comment I've heard from a person who didnt sell a competing product. Several very prominent raceshops in the BMW world including bimmerworld.com which runs a World Challenge campaign with 3 cars and has built countless BMWCCA club racing cars specs these wheels and sells them. Vorshlag motorsports, a relatively new entrant to the market who has been making huge waves in designing and selling some incredibly good and innovative products with regards to suspension, etc. and runs several US national autocross cars again sells and uses these wheels. Frankly, an outside risk of bending a wheel is a risk I am willing to take when I consider that I can buy 11 of these wheels for the price of 4 SSRs that are marginally heavier. Each person interested will have to make their own decision accordingly. I know that when I bought my first set of these wheels (I now have 3 sets of them - 2 in 17x9 and 1 in 18x10) I wasnt that sure what to expect but the fit and finish was excellent, fitment perfect, they are still round after the abuse I've put them through, and they are the lightest wheel I could buy no matter what price I wanted to pay.

I should have some information later this week about what it's going to take to get these wheels, it's harder with Porsche as the staggered configuration means I need to meet minimum orders on 4 wheel types, not 2 as I would in the BMW world. It may come down to I would like to see some interest in the form of a group buy or collect some deposits before I pull the trigger and in exchange the first batch goes out at cost or very close to in order to get some "real world" testing done.
