Question Volk TE37 Question

Just wondering if anyone is running the 9" front ET 46 (18" rim) on their 996/GT3. I'm wondering why people seem to be going for the 8.5 ET 49 instead... From my calculations, these rims would fit, and I've called around and the 9" fronts are available.

9" here on my 2000S Boxster. I use 235-40/18 MPSC's on them.

Oops, I goofed. They are 8.5". The 235's barely fit with no rubbing.

The extra half inch width combined with the lower offset makes them awful close to the fender. They may but I would encourage a fender roll just to make sure.

IIRC the coilovers for my car were manufactured in Downey, CA.

JIC's happened to have better features than PSS9s or H&R's and they were much more affordable than separates like Leda's or Moton's.

They are, but my 986 coilovers were custom made for my car.

I made them from some Tenzo caps that I spray painted black and metal Porsche crests. They didn't come out too bad but they were heavy and the cap cg was way to the outside which put big loads on the cap tangs. One eventually broke off, so I replaced them with flat ones from another manufacturer (I forget which one). I'll post a pic later. Get the flat Rays Engineering factory caps that are made for those wheels.

I have JICs front and rear as well. I liked the independent ride height adjustability, the beefier build, and the different spring options from the factory. What I noticed for me is that the spring perch seems to be in the same place as the factory set up, so the front wheel inner clearance is .5" or so. Like you, I'm running 235s in front with an 8" rim, and I think some spacers may be needed to get some inner clearance with either the 8.5" ET 49 or 9" ET 46 Volks. I think your front and front struts could be the same (I have the competition ones). Did you put spacers on your car or did you move the spring perch?.

I actually had interference problems with the adjusting nut, so Jon moved my spring perches. Here's a pic:

the wheel rim is now between the locking nuts.
