I grow tired of the 19" wheels on my 997 S and am considering getting some 18" wheels for my car. Let me know if you have info on any of the following, or links to another post that covers these topics:
1) The OEM tire sizes of 235/35 and 295/30/19 have a diameter fo 25.5" f and 26" rear, with 817 rev/mi. f and 799 rev/mi rear. If I run tires on 18" wheels that have the same diameter front/rear, or worse yet, a little larger diamater front than rear, will this upset PSM or other systems on the car?
2) I've seen lots of 8/10" or 8.5/10" wheel combos but I'd really like to go up in width, particularly for the rear wheels. Aside from custom wheels, are you aware of any suitable wheels in 8.5"+ front and 11"+ rear?
(Offsets on the OEM 19x8 and 19x11 wheels are 57 and 67.)
3) My favored tire sizes would be 245/40/18 with a 315/30/18 ... has anybody run this on a 997, with what results?
Thanks!

Go search the 997 and the racing drivers education foorum for RonCT. He has done his research with his 997S and runs 18's on the track/street and uses Fikse. Another guy just put on some Volks

Car, the stock 997 wheels are 8.5 and 11 in width...my 997S came with Carrera Sport wheels and those are 11.5 in width. I am looking at either CCW, Volk or TRS (tire rack branded forged) wheels in 18" for the track and will be keeping the same widths. Make sure what ever wheel you get has the correct offsets to fit your S model brakes. Best of luck!

I just got a set of 18" Victor Equipment track wheels for DE's and track days. I'm using MSC 235's & 315's and have been pretty happy with the first outing.
The 315's are slightly shorter and a little wider than the 19" 305 MPS2's I run on the street. You are definitely at the fender lip limit with 315's.....
