Next set is a Circle Wheel one piece lightweight racing wheel (VERY light approx 14lbs for 10")
Front 17x9.25 rear 17x10.25

What are the offsets?

I'm not familiar with the Circle Wheel name, is that the full brand name?

Do these need special lug nuts?

Here's a link to the company's site. They fit an 86 944T.

They are actually around $568.00 per wheel. My price is less than half price. They're great wheels that are VERY light. I love them, just can't use them anymore.

Mark,

Not exactly sure what the offsets are. I do know they fit the 86 944 Turbo. I believe they will also fit lots of early 911' and 928's.

I'll have to do some research to get the exact numbers.

Thanks for your inquiry

Neal,
I would be very interested in purchasing them if the offsets are within an acceptable range for my 928 track car.

Edit: Also, do you have any pictures of them installed on your car, preferably with the 12" halves?

Thanks

I'm interested in why you changed your offset. I have an '86 951 car used purely for PCA DE. It has early offset Charley arms and Leda struts. I have purchased a set of Turbo S spindles, hubs, and brakes that I am planning to install. I understand the camber issues with putting late offset spindles on early offset arms, but am wondering about other effects, such as bearing life ($40 for all new once/year is not a problem) and handling (changes in scrub radius).

Could you share your reasons for changing?

What forced my change was the wheel situation. I really wanted two identical sets.

Before I went widebody I used the two sets of wheels that are currently for sale. When I went to the widebody I spent a few hundred dollars for the rear halves on the HRE's and was fine. Since the Circle's are one piece I would have been forced to buy two new rears at a cost of over $1100.00 for just 2 wheels and would have still not have had two identical sets.

A friend in SD just went to 18" slicks and I bought two sets of his 3 pc 17's. This gives me a better rotation on both ends of the car. So really it was a situation facilitated by the opportunity offered when my friend changed his wheel size.

I am happy to go with the larger spindle and bearings offered by the 87' over the 86 as well.

Remember you will have to change rotors, hubs, tie rods, and inner and outer bearings when you make the change. Fortunately, I have chromoly Racing A-Arms that will let me move the ball joint out the 22MM needed to match the length of the 87 an up a-arms

Here's a pic with the HRE's on the car as requested.

I could probably figure out the approximate offset of the rears if you could tell me how much wider the rear fenders are from stock. I think your front offsets are right around 50mm if the front fenders are stock. How much wider are your rear fenders from stock? I'm really interested in these wheels.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Since I run some spacers in the rear it may be better for me to lay a ruler over the inside of the wheel and measure from the center up to that point??

Going with fender width may not be acurate.

The rear fenders are 3" wider than stock and the fronts are 1" wider. I run more spacer on the rear than on the front. I did this to completely fill the fender.

I'll take some measurements tonight.

Sorry I don't know the offsets. That's always been a tough subject for me.

Thanks

Mark,

I measured the front wheel last night. Here's what I have: When I put the wheel down on its face and had the inside facing up, I layed a straight edge from the outer lip across the center (17" roughly) and measured the distance from the center part of the wheel up to the straight edge.

This distance from where the center of the wheel (where it mates to the hub) out to the edge (lip) of the wheel is 5-5/8"

If this works for you, I'll do the same for the rear. Generally, there seems to be more room for offset differences in the rear. Front being more critical.

Thanks!

Neal,
Thanks for getting back to me. I don't think those offsets will work for my 928; they will stick out too far. Good luck selling them; I would think they would go fast if you posted them in the 944 forums.
