Default 8" all around 951

I've ended up with two sets of phonedials for my 86 951. I've thought about going 8" all around with the next tire purchase. I know this question has been asked, but I've read many conflicting responses. Will someone with actual experience answer this? With 8" phone dials up front on my 86 951, will I be able to run with the 225/50's without modifications? How about the 245/45's? Who is running this setup? Thanks.

I ran 245 all around on my '88. I don't think it will work with an '86. There is too much offset with the early 8" rear. Have you tried putting that wheel on the front yet?

That is my next step once the weather clears up...warms up and dries out. True, that would be the ultimate test at least for the 225/50's I'm currently running in back. I recently went back to 16x7 in front from 17x7.5 and I've noticed a difference in grip. Maybe it is the tire, maybe the amount of tire. I like the lighter feel of the 16", but miss the extra traction.

Also, it wouldn't bother me to rotate tires around if I had the same size on all four corners.

I run (4) 8" early offset phone dials with 245/45/16's on my 86' with no rubbing. Great combo for reducing understeer.
No worries they will fit.
Cheers,
Jason

I've been running 16X8 Phone Dials with 245/45's on all for corners on my '86 for several years now. This set-up really reduces the understeerand I've had no rubbing at all. They will soon become rims for my rain tires as I jump to 17's

- And I have a set of four good 16x7's sitting in my basement that I can let go cheap.
