Default rim swap problem

Alright, to make this short and to the point. I have two porsches, both with fuchs, but my daily driver has the skinnier pair of the two. So I figured it would be an easy swap. Same year, same model. So I swapped the rims, then after giving each lug a check I get into the car to pull it out of the garage. Well the thing didn't roll when I pull the parking break, so I figure the calipers must be rubbing on the tires, which they were. So I went and checked the other car and sure enough there were spacers there. So I take off the spacers and put them onto the car that needs them, and while it is still jacked up I give the wheel a spin or, well tried too and it was still rubbing in certain areas. Now the spacer that is on there is a 5/16th inch. I'm thinking I can solve the problem with a larger spacer but have heard that spacers are banned due to creating stress on the lug bolts (autozone employee told me this). I love the look of the rims and want to keep them on that car, I just need to know if it'll be safe to, and also if someone could help me out on my spacer problem.

First, when it comes to Porsche, you need to consider your source of information.

You can certainly use spacers, within reason. If you use a spacer much more than 3mm, you should consider longer lug bolts, to ensure that there are enough threads for the lug nuts to grab.
