Going rate for 993 cup wheels.
I bought my 951 with the Mille Miglia cup replicas. I'm considering going with OEM wheels for the strength and lighter weight. Is it worth it or should I spend a little more for BBS, HRE, etc.
What is the going rate for a set the Cups?
Thanks
Daniel

I paid $800 for my 993 Cups. They didn't really need refinishing, but I went ahead and had them done anyway. Cost of refinish was $110 per wheel if I recall. So the set was $1240 altogether. I was VERY pleased with the weight when I picked them up. The shop I got mine at had several sets at the time - including Cup 1's. I originally wanted those - but they are WAY heavy in my opinion.

Daniel,
Are you going to take them on the track? If so, I'd suggest another wheel. I've seen two sets of the 993 Cups with cracked spokes, both in track usage. For street usage I wouldn't have any concerns with 993 Cups, and a used set in good condition is less expensive than $2500 to $3500 for BBS/HRE/Fikse/Kinesis type of wheels. You might also take a look at some of the Boxster/996 17's, which might also fit - be sure and check the offsets.

Thanks Bill.
I was looking into this as part of preparing for the track. I don't want to take the knock offs to any DEs. If the OEMs fail than the fakes may do it sooner.

I have a set of original 993 cups that I am willing to trade for C2 Cups. My wheels are in good condition with just a 1in scrape on one of the wheels.
BTW these wheels are chrome and I bought them for $800.

Originally, I got mine from TonyG for $750 plus shipping. Ended up a long saga, but that was where it started. He had like 4 sets of the things and I think he tracked all of them and don't recall him having any problems breaking.
Sidebar - the OEMs are 7 and 9 x 17. What size tires do you guys run on them? 255/40 for the back I assume, not sure on the fronts - 205/50 seems kinda narrow w/ 255s on the back.
This is for a stock (for the moment) '87 951.

I lucked out and stumbled on my 993 cups on ebay for $650 "buy it now" w/ centercaps & like new Toyo Proxes FZ4 tires. It was another $90 for shipping.
