Default 19 inch wheels

is anyone running with these? ive begun to see increasing numbers of 996 types with this diameter and am considering this as a possibility for the 928. the 996 can be quite a heavy car depending on its configuration, similar to the 928, perhaps weight isnt as much of an issue? also there is the case of the cayenne which can run on 22"s, not to mention the carrera GT..

why go to 19"s? -they look great, and if they perform as well then id be willing to pay out the extra for the skinny rubber!

Weight of car has nothing to do with this. Installing 19" wheels on a car that old with a chassis not even half as stiff as the 996's, would only make for a bone jarring ride and cause more chassis flex until all the welds have broken. Stick to 17's if you can help it.

hmmm... whilst i doubt the authenticity of some assertions, there is very little by way of positive feedback regarding 19" rims. 17" do work well as im assured do the 18"s. might steer away from 19"s though.

If you doubt any of Viken's assertions, don't ask.

LOL! If I read the good Dr's reply right, he is saying “I think you are making this crap up and I don’t believe you. But I am taking your advice anyway.”

Personally, I'd stay away from 19" rims. They look great, but they are heavy and do not have a very large tire selection ( versus 17" or 18" rims ).

hey viken, where do you get information on the chassis stiffness for the 928? for the record, ive just put 997 19" rims on my 928 and the ride has improved, not bone jarring at all!
