Driving the 928 GT is really remarkably easy. Excellent road behavior, even at high speeds. Great performance, great safety, great pleasure. Driving is comfortable, relaxing, very stable, very fast. Luxury and performance combined in a well styled GT sports car that still looks great.
The Porsche 928 GT is a 2+2 coupe, front engine, liquid cooled, rear drive, with a steel monocoque body. The engine is a double overhead camshaft all-alloy 5.0L, 32V, and 326 hp. The 928 being the only production car sold by Porsche with an 8 cylinder motor. The exhaust tone is like no other Porsche on the road, just something that comes out of an 8 cylinder. Production years 1989 thru 1991 with a total 2,078 units worldwide with less than 400 entering the U.S. Mainly galvanized steel, the doors, front fenders, and hood are aluminum for weight savings.
The GT 5 speed manual transmission model comes with shorter final drive ratio than earlier models. Thicker cylinder head casting than earlier models to strengthen head against cracking. Standard in the GT is the computer controlled 0-100% PSD locking differential for more grip.
This 928 is equipped with the Weissach axle, this is a special rear suspension arrangement devised to eliminate lift-throttle oversteer by allowing the rear suspension to adjust itself during cornering maneuvers.
