I assume the dealer gets paid for making the titling and registration convenient.

also - how long until a potential buyer receives the title ?
the dealer cannot facilitate a cash against car and title transaction I assume so adding another middleman will not make this any faster will it ?
There will be a documentation fee of aprox. $350 which gets you a temporary tag to drive/take the car immediately while you wait for the title. This also saves you the hassle of going to the DMV yourself. If you are concerned that I may be a dealer, I can assure you that I am not. This car was ordered by me and I've been the only owner to date.

Either way the buyer gets the title in about the same time but can take immediate possession of the car.

If you are interested in the car shoot me a pm with an offer and we can discuss rolling in any fees you may be concerned about.

Just something to keep in mind. Of course, depending on state, YMMV.
I'm not in Illinois but rather in NJ where the sales tax on a vehicle is the same whether purchased though a dealer or from an individual. I guess if you live in Illinois and want to buy the car you'll have to weigh the value given, what what would be a higher sales tax bill.

Whenever I have purchased a car out of state, from a dealer, that dealer has collected the sales tax for my state and forwarded it to them.

When I've made these transactions I got a temp tag, drove the car home and waited for my tags to arrive in the mail from the NJ dmv.

I'm from Florida where temp tags are 11 bucks. And I really like to avoid the dealer experience. I think that you're eliminating a pool of potential buyers but you're obviously free to do as you wish.

It's a pass through sale. Done all the time. Combined with my purchase it enables the buyer to get a price close to carmax offer and less than a few dealer trade in offers I've received.

I'm a 10+ year membe of RL with 3 group buys to my credit the last of which involved me putting up the money to rent the glen for 2 days of track time along with organising the event.

The board, IMO, serves not just as a car forum but also a way to vet potential sellers.

In this case the "dealer" is 10 blocks from my house in the seashore town were I've lived for 31 years.

The car will be at my house so the buyer can meet me there, come inside, use the bathroom, meet my wife and kids, pet the dog, drive/inspect the car and we're off to the dealer (a small downtown lot in my dry, as in no alcohol, NJ town).

An hour or so later we're done.

Feel free to pm me with any concerns I'll be happy to provide a phone number so I can answer any and all questions.

I'll add that you're welcome to spend the night, as other Rennlisters have, and hit the beach for a day.

Just one night though....

Bump for rewording of original add with clarification on pass through deal. Quite frankly I didn't realize that it would lead to so many questions, as I thought, from my time here that it wasn't all that uncommon.

Apologies for not being more clear.

That being said, I am happy to skip the pass through and sell direct although the price would not be as flexible.

Thanks.

So does your current asking price represent the 'more flexible' pass through price or the 'less flexible' direct price? Sorry, still a bit confusing.

Maybe you could just say:

Asking price with passthrough: $xx,xxx
Asking price selling direct: $yy,yyy

Sorry for the confusion.

Quite frankly I think the price is aggressive, pass through or not and reflects my desire to get the car sold quickly.

I fully admit that I should have taken more time when crafting my original ad.

To the pricing.....I've been dropping fairly steadily from my initial ask of $67,000 just 6 days ago.

The current asking price is $63,000 with me desiring to do the sale as a pass through, anyone interested in making an offer, whether with or without the pass through, please feel free to shoot me a pm.

If you have any questions feel free to phone me at..... six/zero/nine-nine9two-six665.

Thanks.

Car will be sold direct. Seems that the pass through was indeed limiting the pool.

Thanks.

Beautiful car; only missing the Sport Chrono.

I would keep the option open for both direct and pass through. Personally I have sold many cars as a pass through; effectively limits the risk to both parties with the dealer brokering the sale and typically still allows the tax benefit to the seller.

Did CARMAX give you a quote?

I thought/think the pass through a win win as well.

Yes, I have a carmax offer.
