is it correct that only 598 Turbo S were made - both tip and 6M? won't be the easiest car to run across, if those numbers are correct. i agree it would be the 996tt to find/buy, if desirability down the road were important to the buyer.

Because long-term desirability was brought up, I'll open things up even further and ask, what are folk's thoughts about the 996tt as a long-term driving 'investment'? Knowing cars are liabilities, not investments, but there seems to be a view that these guys will not only hold their value but could increase over time. I'd buy it for the driving experience but it would be nice knowing it's not going to depreciate rapidly as most cars do.

You can still get an S in the 50s, in two years that won't be the case.

The "S" should have a higher floor than the rest and slide down slower but you can get decent ones now in the high $40's. They won't stop going down until the 997tt stops depreciating.

If you are going to keep it 10+ years, maybe surely, if for no other reason than inflation. If in the next several years the 997s pass through the 60s into the 50s it will be a while. If a person can't get a car loan on a 10+ yo car and personal note interest is higher than on a used car, then the delta between 996-997 decreases. Big IF's.

I have a 2002 x50 completely stock with a tip and 41,000 miles if that interest you? The tip is a stronger choice if you do the research, just not as cool in some people's eyes

997.1tt prices are pretty stable and they have been the last 12mo or so, many think they've reached their trough level. 996s depreciated worse because they are just less desirable (headlights, post 993 syndrome etc), not much to do with 997tt prices. If you look today, you won't find many s cars in the 40s, so I think they and probably all the 996 turbos are likely finished too.

If you can find a 6 speed S coupe it'll be in the $60's and climbing. Less than 100 to choose from in all of NA. One year only, and very cool.

I have a 2003 6M x50

Grey with Black interior - no wear - looks new.

42,000 miles

Stock

Mint condition - stored in climate controlled garage at my house.

Wheels redone by Porchse and painted GT Silver - beautiful....

400 miles on new tires.

Purchased from a rennlist member with documentation.

The car is not listed for sale anywhere - but considering selling - car needs nothing and runs perfect.
