Because you can modify a 911 turbo for much less than what a gt2 is worth.

Probably, but a gt2 is so much cooler to show your friends. :-p

I wonder how well these types of cars hold up in value when the markets crash...

I guess it refers to what AP has said... but of course it could be misleading.. Fact is there is no 991 GT2 to date

Here is an article speculating they are testing the GT2 RS:

Nothing indicates there will be next GT2 either. What is more if GT2 had been planned it would have been already there... and PAG also would rather announed it to the dealers so far and they would probably open a waiting lists. Another question is if we assume it will appear, but with only PDK and AWD will it be still a real GT2 or only another 'new' variant for entusiasts that has one thing in common with 997 GT2 - the badge on the back lid ...?

They were for long time undervalued, so now when prices have risen maybe it is time to cash... but they could gain in value over time even more...

That is great! Congrats! Is new owner also RL user/member? If this is not confidential what was the best offer? Or at least was it close to asking price?

Wow - that went fast. I know these are rare and its good for all GT2 owners I guess. Personally for close to this money I would get the GT2 RS or a 997 GT3 4.0. Glad I got mine when I did.
