The #58 Red Bull – BrumosFabcar Porsche has been fully restored to its most recent competitive configuration with several improvements made to enhance power and durability. Powered by a Porsche Motorsport 911 RSR variant displacing 3.9 liters, the freshly installed engine has been meticulously tuned to produce smooth and linear power delivery from 0 RPM through 8800 RPM producing 500 rear wheel horsepower (Estimate 575 at the crank).

During the car’s first season in 2003, the Porsche-FabcarFDSC/03 was powered by a 3.6 liter engine producing 475 HP at the crank, with a chassis design that was quite a bit heavier. Modifications to the chassis through the development efforts of the talented Brumos team and talented crew chief Mike Colucci, continued throughout the car’s race career with Brumos. The motor was lowered in the chassis for better center of gravity and roll center and the motor grew in displacement and power to give it greater power to weight ratio. The major restoration work on chassis number 005 was completed by Spirit of Daytona Racing in December 2010 with assistance from Michael Colucci. The final restoration and tuning was continued after the major construction work by Mase Engineering in Jacksonville, Florida. Steve Mason, of Mase Engineering conducted extensive research and tapped into the knowledge base of Porsche Motorsports, Brumos Porsche, Motec, Bosch Motorsports and several other individuals associated with the car during its history to continue the fine-tuning process for the car over a period of two years. This continued restoration and development effort was focused on the engine, ECU improvements, electronics, safety equipment, wiring and chassis detail. Mase Engineering completed the work on chassis number 005 March 15, 2013. The car is now fully restored, with improved reliability and safety features. It has been fully dyno tuned and tested. The car is truly track-ready. The only item lacking is a driver and team to fully set-up the car for each specific track and driver preferences.
