Year: 1955
Make: Porsche
Model: 911
Mileage (numbers only please): 4600
Options (Please check ALL which apply): Leather Seats
Color: Silver
VIN: 80791
Price (no $ sign please): $55000
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): SoCAl
Body Style: Cabriolet
Transmission Type: Manual - 5 speed
2 or 4 Wheel Drive?: 2 Wheel Drive
Engine Type: Carbs
Stereo System: None
Mileage: 4,600 kilometers (<1,000 on rebuilt motor and carbs)
Note: New Red interior completed less than 2 months ago. Some older photos will show black seats which were vinyl.
Motor: less than 1000 miles since rebuild
- 2.4 liter twin plug 1973 911S motor. This was a stock 2.4 liter. The S heads were added and twin plugged, S cams, S pistons, etc... to make it a true "S" motor. I recently completed a top end rebuild (Competition Engineering in Lake Isabella performed the work) and inspected the bottom end which needed nothing and looked great. The only thing that was replaced was the access circular oil gasket on the bottom of the motor by the drain plug which was weeping. All front main and rear seals were all dry as a bone.
- Peterson 10 quart oiling system with hard in-line oil filter and cooler with built in fan. This car will never overheat because of how open the motor is. The fan rarely even comes on.
- Rebuilt Weber 40mm stacks done by Paul at Performance Oriented. This was a complete rebuild with center shaft drilling... not cheap!
- New Mallory Comp fuel pump with Holly fuel pressure regulator and A/N inline (reusable) fuel filter. Also, all new stainless steel braided fuel lines were added when the engine was rebuilt
- Installed new style auto weather proof engine wiring harness connectors for easy removal when needed. This is a 8-way connector and used for all major wires from fuse panel to engine. Very easy to disconnect during engine removal or maintenance.
- Estimated at 225hp (if not more) and the car weighs approx. 1,400lbs.
- Custom 3-2-1 ceramic coated exhaust system with Dynaflow mini mufflers.
- Hydraulic assisted slave cylinder on clutch for easy driving.
Exterior/Interior:
- Racing plex windshield by Hanna manufacturing
- 356 glass windshield included with all framework and fasteners. I couldn't bring myself to drill holes for installation and love the current look of the vehicle.
- Tonneau cover custom made by Stitch at Classic Interiors and has a zipper to remove just one section for warmer conditions for driver or to protect against the elements if caught in rain.
- custom rear view mirror with headlight style holder
- Porsche square weave carpet
- 718 style balsa wood shifter (also in Carrera GT)
- Nardi steering wheel
- bucket seats from Thunder Ranch (heated top and bottom with low and high settings)
- Twin Porsche style grill
Suspension/Transmission/Brakes:
- 901 transaxle from 914.
- 914 drive axles
- four link suspension with panhard bar and DiDion tube. Supported by Aldan aluminum coilovers.
- CNC 4-piston calipers up front and 911 2-piston calipers in the rear (brand new).
- Porsche 944 master cylinder
Wheels/Tires:
- Porsche Fuchs 16x7 and 16x6
- Brand new Dunlop DZ101 tires

This Porsche is titled in CA as a 1955 Porsche. There is no special VIN number also which would indicate a kit car. If someone is interested in shipping this oversees this will make it much easier. Someone (previous owner) put a lot of time and effort into making this right.
Also, this is scary fast. The brakes make it easy to drive since you can stop on a dime. This car is too pretty to track (my opinion) so other than spirited drives the car has been babied.
Lastly, this is a 550-6 kit. Carrera Coachwerks purchased Thunder Ranch. In total there has only been 5 of these kits made. The frame is completely different than the 4 cylinder kits and you cannot convert a 4 cylinder kit into a 911 motor. They have made over 330 4-cyl models but only 5 of these which the 5th one is currently being finished (last time I spoke to them) in their shop.
Here are some more pics. Would be happy to take an specific shots if needed.

The seats were recovered. I do still have the black carpet that was in the doors along with extra red square tweed carpeting. The old material for the seats were vinyl so not worth saving. The floor mats were just added and could be changed out at any time.

Thanks for the comments. In life priorities change. In this case it is a second home which we are purchasing and will require some remodeling. Trust me, this car is amazing and selling it doesn't come easy to me. At one point I was going to buy a 993TT but not anymore. Maybe some day it will happen but for now I will have to settle for a second home project.

Seller backed out.. was almost to the final sale and he even paid someone to come look at the car... which they both loved.
He said it was for personal reasons and both him and the person he hired would be happy to speak with any potential seller so you have a better appreciation for the vehicle.
Thanks again for all the interest.
Regards,
Bryan

Hey Bryan
I think my friend had trade interest on your car with his Beck Spyder.
Cool car with the 6cyl!!
Is the centre double stripe a decal?
Is the suspension adjustable? Front and rear?
I agree GLWS
