Hi Fellow Rennlisters:

I have begun the hunt for a 5 Speed 928. I noticed that most WTB ads here are not very specific, so I will try to be as specific as possible in my search. Here's what I'm after:

-1980-83 (will consider later, but definitely not earlier)
-S Model (can not bend on this!)
-Euro a HUGE plus
-5 speed (can not bend on this!)
-Silver
-In need of a WP/TB job or mechanical work is fine, but I'd prefer no cosmetic or interior issues

I will travel for the right car. Please PM me if you have an appropriate candidate.

Thank You!

Good luck on the search...if your patient it will show up.

My brother will have a nice 82 5 speed in white soon. Black sport seats.

Patience is the name of the game here. I want a very specific car, but the key word is want and not need. Meantime, I'll continue pricing them out, reading, researching, talking, connecting, and making friends in the community. No rush at all. I want what I want because I want it, not because I need it---that's the beauty. The hunt is fun!

Are you still looking? I have an 83 Guards red 928S 5 speed with Black interior. Southern Cal car it's whole life. Mechanically very solid with mucho new/rebuilt stuff with all receipts. Could use a respray and a front spoiler, but otherwise very presentable. Interior needs minor refreshing, but also very presentable. Let me know if you'd like more details.

The good:

I have a Silver 1983 928 Euro S
5-sp manual gearbox, 2.73 gears with limited-slip diff
MSDS Headers and a cuistom made 3" exhaust that includes hi-flow cat.
17' CCW 3-piece wheels width: 10" F 11" R tires: 255 F 275 R.
Last time on dyno it pulled 265 RWHP.
Lots of mechanical upgrades. It runs strong and sounds great.

The not so good:
cosmetically it is somewhat challenged. It is 30 years old after all, and has never been a garage queen. To make it a 10 you'd need to address both paint and interior areas.

I had not really thought about selling the car until I saw your post. I have an '88 for sale and was just going to keep this one to tinker with, but perhaps for the right price, I might let it go and keep the '88.

PM for more info if you're interested.

Hi Joe,

Can you send me some more info and pictures of your 1980 s model?

Thanks!

Here are some photos of the car taken in various situations. If there is something specific you'd like to see, let me know.

I have owned it since Oct of 2001. It took about 5 years for me to find the car. I too wanted specific things. Euro, CIS rather than electronic FI Manual trans with LSD. The car came with heated power seats which I changed for manual ones. The manual seats offer more headroom since you are not sitting on the motors. The car had a newly rebuilt transmission with all new synchros and they are still in fine shape. Along with installing a massively larger battery cable, I went to some off road 4 wheeler shop and had them build me a high output delco alternator so sitting at a light, with defroster, lights, wipers turn signal and radio going all at the same time no longer causes all the interior lights to slowly get dimmer.

Hopefully you'll get some sense of the car from the photos and from searching threads of mine about its past as well.

Let me know if you want to see anything else specific.

Cheers,
Joe
