And I agree, whole thing was very odd. I had quite a bit of communication with him but I was 3rd in line since I wanted a full PPI.

I did not pay for the PPI/DME, I offered $1000 more than asking so he said he would cover it.

Oh well, life goes on. Glad I didn't waste anymore time on it.

Very fugazi.
For those GT3 .1 shopping, keep the VIN handy... I hope no RL'r buys this car from a stealer at an additional markup without a thorough PPI and an offer close to the OP's original ask.

There were pics and my offer stipulated a full PPI. AND I said I need to see and drive it... would take me a few days to make it to Chicago. But he said others offered to wire the money in full, no PPI, just DME. I imagine and he figured they were dealers. idlook2 was the first in line private party it sounds like and he required a limited PPI/DME from what he typed above.

Exactly. After I saw the pics I wasn't falling all over myself to buy it. If it worked out on my terms/schedule then fine, but I was a bit taken aback by the condition based on his initial description.

and everything you can't see? undercarriage, brakes, suspension, front rads/condensers, overall engine condition, ??? my 0.02, the interior/exterior images do not bode well to what lies underneath..... If OP got close +/- $77K without having to deal with any issues, he did quite well...

I want to share my experience as well with "low priced GT3". I had one on sale last year for ...$69k. Out of 55k mi probably 40k was track mileage. I had local mechanic run DME and looked it over. I just couldn't get over the idea that motor was apart twice, tranny was rebuilt, fully neglected in many place...and still dripping some oil. Yes, it was cheap but having rebuilt Mezger engine like 2 times was above my acceptance. Yes, it would buy me 2 second at Lime Rock but I can get there much cheaper getting professional coaches for $100/session.
