Take a road trip! During the summer months. I did the Summer ALCAN 5000 rally back in the day. It was beautiful!!
Drove 7000 miles total in 15 days. Started from LA

 

there should be no tax to bring it through Canada, since you are not importing it just passing through.
Guys this is a good clean driver.

 

^x2 Canadian border will let it pass through with no tax if the destination is the lower 48 states.

As this is already registered in the US, there would not be any duties or fees for crossing in and out of the borders. The only applicable tax would be your local sales tax when registering the vehicle. If the car was shipped out of Anchorage, it would most likely go by boat anyway so it would not be going through customs.
