Hi all,

I purchased this car in June, 2013. Thanks for taking a look and let me know any questions I can answer.

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 coupe (997.1)
53,000 miles.
Options:
6 speed manual
Bi xenon headlights
Bose sound with 6-disc changer
Rims: Victor Lemans with Mirror Machined Lip

All service records, including from previous owner.
Immediately prior to purchase, the transmission was rebuilt by Steinel’s Autowerks http://www.steinels.com/ in conjunction Copans of Ohio (http://www.copanstransmission.com/). They are Porsche-exclusive service companies. The $8,000 repair was covered under an extended warranty from the previous owner.

Other repairs/service of note:
Ignition coils /plugs: 2013
Starter motor: 2015
Rear brakes/discs/sensors: Oct 2015
Front brakes/discs/sensors: Apr 2016
Tires: 18” Continental Extreme Contact, with nearly full tread life
Options not included but can discuss selling: Original five spoke rims with mounted winter Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2, with almost no treadwear.

History: I purchased the car in June, 2013 with about 42,000 miles. It’s been well cared for and maintained since. I found the car through Steinel Autowerks near Cleveland. They are Porsche repair specialists and this car was in for a transmission rebuild. The owner was looking to sell, but during the course of selling it to another buyer the inspection revealed transmission problems with the synchronizer rings. The repair took some time and the first buyer backed out. I stepped in and snagged it because I liked the guys doing the work and having a new transmission was a plus for me.

Condition: Car is in excellent condition. Bonnet has clear protective wrap. It has two small brush marks (pictured) which are to the wrap, not the paint. There is one small chip on the driver A pillar. The inside info console has wear on the heater button. Seats are in excellent condition and the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in. Inspected in July with an oil change.

Maintenance: Car has been maintained through Foreign Traffic of Pittsburgh. They specialize in high end and exotics, and know my car inside out.

Why am I selling? Two reasons. First, I don’t drive it enough. I work from home and don’t drive much to begin with. Second, I’m focusing on kart racing and selling the car finances my passion there. This was my dream car and fulfilled that dream…there may be another in my future but for now I’m prioritizing.

Interested. What was wrong with the transmission that warranted the replacement?

As it was described to me, the synchro rings were damaged, and it was not shifting correctly. Here is the exact description from Steinel's write up:

"Check difficult to shift and grinds 2nd, 4th and 6th gears. Remove transmission, remove drive flange and rear cover and inspect gears while on shafts."

That inspection led them to it needing to be rebuilt. The paperwork describes in detail all of the parts, etc. Highly recommend visiting http://www.copanstransmission.com/ to see the level of work they do. I've had zero problems with it.

Also, if there are other pictures, info, etc. you'd like, i'm happy to provide. I'm trying to do a video walk around of the car this weekend, just need to find the time. Thanks.

Default Additional information

Love the car, very tempting!

Couple of questions:

1. How long has the chip on the pillar been there? Any idea of ease of repair on that?
2. Is this the original clutch/IMS bearing?
3. How far outside of Pittsburgh are you located?

Thanks

The paint chip was there when I bought it. It has not changed and doesn't bother me. If i'd had to replace the windshield I probably would have addressed it. I'm sure a body shop can do a repair for a reasonable price, not including the seal.

The previous owner replaced the clutch in 2011 according to his records. To my knowledge the IMS bearing was not replaced.

I'm about 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Thanks!

Did you ever get around to doing that video walkaround of the car?

Thanks!

OK, you can see a video walkaround here. It's not pro quality by any means but hopefully gives a better view of the entire car. As i mention in the video (right before my camera went wonky), i have a car cover that i'll include in the sale as well.

Might come up in 360 quality, just click the youtube gear to change it to HD. Thanks!

Interesting article here. Here's your chance for a Pennsylvania, flood-free replacement to that sweet ride you lost down south!

I've had some inquiries about selling the car with the OEM wheels. I'm happy to swap out from what's on there now if that's someone's preference. The OEMs have winter tires, Michelin Pilot Alpine with less than 1,000 miles on them. The wheels are not pristine, which is why i used them for winter. In the end I kept my SUV and my plan of using this as my winter car never materialized. Here's a link to a google album with pics of the wheels. https://photos.app.goo.gl/fQtjD5TQ5zSugFb72

I'm open to reasonable offers on the car. I've had good interest, but mostly people just starting to look. Thanks.
