The car is a 1983 model. The lightest of all the 944's, under 2700lbs!
The bad:
- All of the important stuff works, but the tach, the oil pressure gauge, and the clock do not. Neither does the driver side window switch for the passenger window.
- The interior is in good overall shape, the seats are all in excellent shape.
- The dash is cracking, and some of the interior trim is coming apart (driver door handle pocket & trim around the shifter)
- The speakers don't have covers on them.
- One big scratch on the passenger side rear fender (in pictures)
The good:
- Motor and transaxle were rebuilt by HESCO in Birmingham, AL 50k miles ago at 142k miles.
- The chassis has 192k miles on it, and it was a one owner car until 175k miles! The odometer does actually work.
- It was very well maintained, repainted with factory paint, and driven regularly by the original owner. It had been sitting for a year or two when I got it.
- EURASIAN AUTO SERVICE has done a killer job keeping it up for me, and I have all the service records since I've owned it.
- I've had to rely on it, so I have been very on top of maintenance. - This is no trailer queen, it's a driver, and would be at home continuing to be a daily, or as a fun weekend car.
- Stereo has an aux plug and Bluetooth!
- Recently I put the Fuchs on it, replaced the front shocks with Koni yellows, and did lowering springs (250lbs). Also replaced the front LBJ's, did an oil change, and installed new latches for the hatch.
- Comes with miscellaneous spare parts (shocks, dash/interior, original spare tire) and maintenance records.
- The exhaust does not have the bulky center muffler, just the rear resonator. It's a very tolerable volume level, and has about as nice of an exhaust note as you can get for the 2.5L NA motor.
- Shoot me a message for more details and pictures.
I've put 10,000 miles on this car in two years. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it it 500+ miles tomorrow. I have all the records since I've owned it.
Can't say enough about the durability of a well maintained 944. Only selling because I want to upgrade to a 944 Turbo S!
Price is $6000. It's worth every penny, needs nothing to reliable transportation, and turns heads everywhere it goes. This car could easily be turned into a pristine example: repair the interior, and fix the scratch on the body work. It's all original except for what is listed above (shocks/springs, bluetooth radio, has a spacer behind the steering wheel).
