Default enclosed aluminum trailers with wood floors ...

i was looking at featherlites but was also told to check out ATC and Becker (?)

the cheaper of the later two have wood flooring.

how does that work ? aluminum frame with plywood screwed down ? what protects that underside of the wood flooring from the elements ?

if it rots out or needs replacing ?

side rant.

how come a box on wheels with no mechanical, electrical, etc costs so much ?

I have aluminum floors in my Intech, which I really like because any spills can just be wiped up. The flip side is that aluminum can be scratched, in case you want to keep the floor looking pristine. And of course aluminum floors add to the cost.

But on to your question: the trailers I've been in with plywood floors typically smell bad from the plywood absorbing fluid and humidity and look pretty bad, if that matters to you. The best solution I've seen is to lay a vinyl or rubber garage floor mat on the trailer floor. It does require some cutting but it provides protection and can be replaced if the mat gets in bad shape.

Buy all aluminum, buy longer than you think you need, buy enclosed, and buy Once!
Or plan on repeating the process...

Just like a car that lasts a lifetime? Without repairs?
Nothing wrong with plywood if it is full covered on top. Mine has wall to wall non skid black ? on it. Keeps any water from getting to the surface. Under the trailer the plywood is not finished. This helps a lot to keep it from rotting. Some builders use Advantech sheets. Very strong and moisture resistant.
