Frame damage on trailex
I have a 2006 enclosed trailex and it seems that the axel U bolts are contacting the frame and causing dents and a crack. How dangerous is this and what is the best way to repair it? Thanks for the advice.

I think i would stop using that. Aluminum doesnt like cracks and repeditive cycling.
find a shop that repairs truck bodies or builds dump trucks, they should be able to weld plates to the rails as a repair. It may need new springs or bump stops added. R u overloading it because it seems like this should not happen?

agree with the above. i would not use that trailer with any load on it. should be fine to tow it to shop for repairs. Is that axle in the original location or did someone move it, leaving less space?

I think I may have a place that I can take it to but recommendations in NJ area would be appreciated.

Also, call Trailex. At least in the past they have been very helpful with issues and guidance for how best to repair.

Looks like a broken/bent leaf spring to me with missing bump stops.. Call Precision Motor Sports - they are a Trailex dealer in Long Valley, NJ and can order parts and repair. Phone: (908) 832-6572

This may sound mad….
I’ve asked Carl about how the ubolts whack the rails there. They all do. There are no bump stops and the springs ride low and slam that rail in big bumps even if you insert a 4th leaf into each. (I tried that).
He told me more or less not to worry. Near as I can tell, the trailer rides on those larger box girders above, and the half box that gets mangled mostly attaches the springs.
i wouldn't take my word for it either. But curious to know what he says.

This was a fantastic idea. They said what I am seeing is cosmetic as this is just a C channel and the main beam is above it. On the later models they actually cut this section to stop the contact. With that said, they did suggest new bushings and springs.

I thought I would add this. I have a similar or worse looking issue with my open trailer. Sent pictures to Carl at Trailex. He said no issue regarding structural integrity. In my case U-bolts are way to long from the factory causing the issue. With newer models they installed shorter U-bolts to help midigate contact. In my case I also recently broke a leaf spring and that section above the broken spring had more wear on the beam than the other areas. Good luck.
