Default DEAD (well not exactly)

Fast charge weds night (20-80, normal speed), had charged on AC charger in am about 20%.

Plug in yesterday AM, red light & "charging not available". I hear some clicks, see white light flash for a min, then red. I suspect my 19.2 AC charger has died.

Tried 3 different chargers plus home charger, and again this AM.

Luckily car is at 60%, but it's being flat bedded to dealer this AM.

Love the car, and this is the only 'issue' ive had with it in 3+ years, but the amount of down time for recalls is crazy.

I think this is it for me and going back to an ICE daily (cayman or something). Will keep my wife's Macan EV for a while.

This is most likely an onboard charger failure. I had it happen on my Taycan GTS while on a trip. Fortunately I got to a dealer near where I was staying and they replaced it but it took three days.

I hear ya.... My car has been at the dealer 5 months out of the last 12 months. Porsche really crapped themselves in terms of quality with the Taycan.

Yes probably. The dealer was awesome, sent their flat bed to get it Friday AM. They are just getting on the car now to diagnose what is going on.

I had 3 years of mostly trouble free but WAY too much down-time due to recalls (over 3mo I added it all up). So I'm done. When I get it back I'll sell it.

I bought a Cayman GTS 4L to daily for a while. Going back to Ice for a bit. Wife will has the Macan EV which 5mo in has been trouble free.

I do love the car, I do not love the gremlins in the battery/charging systems. Looks fantastic.Great fit/finish. Drives amazing... but... it's a beta product at best in my mind the rest of it. Not even the core mechanical stuff, which seems solid, it's the controls/battery/systems.

That's exactly what finally moved me out of my Taycan. I'm in a Boxster now but watching and hoping the MY2025s and Audi variants hold up over the next few years without similar recalls. I'd love to have an electric back in the stable again... although I think the 981 is a keeper regardless

That's too funny we landed in a similar spot. I had a 981 GT4 (didn't love), a 981 Spyder (Loved, but I burn so easy and that car just looks so amazing with the top down you can't leave it up!). Tried the turbo motors (didn't love). Tried the 992 T/S, didn't love the feel of their drive trains and the cars are so big. I had a 991.1 S (with power kit) and that car never clicked with me at the time... The Cayman just felt like a sports car that can easily be used daily, and of the latest ones, you have the bonkers cars - I know this won't be popular but I feel they over-did the magic of the earlier spyders with the current RS... . and the GTS is the last one with a n/a motor other than the spyder/gt variants.

So here we are!

Have you thought about another brand of EV? The new ‘26 BMW iX M70 has revised front and rear styling along with more range and hp. The lease rates quoted from brokers are fantastic, My ‘24 M60 has been bulletproof; never once having to go to Service since new.

At some point I expect to be back in an EV and the charging equipment remains at the ready. I'm watching all the EVs out there to see what speaks to me.

Gotta say, all other issues aside the original Taycan is a looker.

We've had our 22 Audi Etron Gt for 2 years. My wife commutes to work around 100 miles a day. We've done the recalls but they mostly all concided with regular service and getting a loaner was no problem. With these new cars I don't know if you can avoid these recalls even with an ice vehicle. Enjoy your new ride.

Obviously very subjective — but I find current BMWs hideous. Their design language took a steep nose dive about 6 or 7 years ago and keeps getting worse.

I just added it up. My taycan was at the dealer the last 3 years for 74 days over 6 visits. Since the car only needs service ever 2 years /20k only one of those matched with the 2 year service.

seems like a lot.

FWIW: my lucid air gt that I've had for a year has been in the shop all of ZERO times. between recalls and updates and initial software issues my taycan had at least eight visits and multiple days in the service center.
my first tesla, vin 33xxx had a few visits that were typical of the early cars, my second model s and my model 3 never required service visits and my Ipace needed a repair to the charge port for 1 visit over three years.
so it is safe to assume that there are issues with the taycan that require way too many service calls.
I am considering returning to the taycan in a '25 4s and as much as I loved the car I am wary of getting back into the taycan because of the servicing concerns.

No ETA yet on the charger... so car is hanging out at the dealer (2 weeks and counting) . I did go see it Saturday, to get its toll tag and my town resident parking sticker off it. :-)

Enjoying the Cayman GTS I boughT!
