Default Thinking of the Taycan

I've been absent from the Porsche scene for a bit and looking to renter with buying my wife a Taycan. We test drove a 2024 base model and she thought it was sluggish (she currently has a Model 3 Performance). So now with the 2025 arriving, I heard they were able to get another 0.6 seconds off the base (haven't found numbers on the improvements for the 4S for 2025 yet). Just wanted to ask if anyone has test drove the 2025 and the general sentiment on the base vs 4S model.

Haven’t test driven the 2025 but we had a 2023 base loner car and wow was it a dog. Even a full second faster to sixty wouldn’t seem fast enough. I’m sure the turbo guys would feel the same about our 4s though…so to each his own.

Even the 2025 will feel slow compared to a model 3P. I would stick with a bare minimum of 4S. You can get a nice used turbo gen 1 for the price of a 2025 base

If she's used to a M3P it'll be tough to find similar acceleration in a lot of other cars. When I had my P100D the only thing that was a close match was the Taycan Turbo. Once you get over that though, you'll find the lack of immediate adrenaline rush is compensated by just about everything else in a Taycan.

Some people gravitate specifically to the base because it's the only way to get a RWD Taycan. Others want to keep weight as low as possible and one less motor helps.

Most, it seems, to go 4S or higher.

You should get the Taycan Turbo GT that just came out.

Unless ordered as a optional extra, the Base RWD does not have air suspension. Taycan sits low, and chin will scape every speed bump and steep drive. Even my raised 4S and (next in line GTS) scrapes chin on occasion.

It is neck snapping...when that turbo charger pumps all those extra electrons.
