Default Negotiating and what to look for when buying a used Taycan

Ive decided to pursue a 20-21 Taycan Turbo that at a minimum has an outstanding warranty and more than likely is also CPO as well. Although a CPO car is low risk but im curious if there is a way to check the battery capacity condition(ie can only be charged to 90%), outstanding recalls and anything other quirks associated with these cars? I was also curious if you guys can advise on how much negotiation is typically available on these. Most of the cars im looking at range from $100-110k with 10-20k of mileage. Thanks for the help.

I would stick with a CPO car. The best thing to do is get the service records for the car. You will see if it was constantly in service for the same problem or if it was relatively trouble free. I myself just picked up a 2020 CPO Turbo.

Have the same question regarding checking the battery condition.

I look for undercarriage damage as well as it rarely gets checked out even under CPO. You absolutely have to baby the car over parking lot speed bumps, steep ramps, etc. given how low it sits.

I’m looking at “Turbo’s” too.

Just started looking at cars after again a 6 month ban. These have gone from being horrendously over priced to being the best value used car in that time.

I don’t even like EV’s but Taycan turbo is hard to beat compared to petrol cars that haven’t dropped a penny.

Battery is my biggest concern too which is why I will go with CPO.

I’m also thinking of picking up a certified preowned Taycan turbo or possibly a nicely optioned 4S… but would prefer the turbo for the big improvement in performance.

Would any of you suggest getting a PPI from an independent shop even if the car I locate is CPO at a dealership?

Its the spec as well as the performance.

Turbo makes a lot of sense compared to the 4s looking at U.K. prices.

Why do you think that CPO is going to do anything for you on the battery? I am thinking that the CPO will expire before the battery warranty does.

it’s the whole system I’m wary of, not just the batteries themselves.

If I get CPO I can extend the warranty for as long as I keep the car.

Id take a private car at the right price if it had warranty remaining.

Im not brave enough to buy a private car with no extendable warranty.

Check the windshield condition and negotiate a replacement if it's speckled. They seem to ding up easily.

Unless you are planning on exceeding 100K miles prior to the car being in service 7 years I don't believe that the CPO will not provide any additional coverage for the propulsion battery as it is covered for 8 years and 100K miles

I’m looking to replace the 911 with a taycan as well. Test drive 4S CT and no doubt , it’s a rocket and it’s a Porsche. Does it handle like a 992 ? Absolutely not. That said , any down sides buying used vs new ? No tax credit on these cars but how about the 3 years of “free charging “ in USA ? Anyone know if this is for the 1st owner only or does it transfer ? I plan to charge at home 99%. Thanks all.

CPO is separate from Battery warranty. CPO is for windshield wiper motor, door lock, that kinda thing.

Battery warranty is an additional warranty exclusively on the battery pack. Depending on age (a 2020, manufactured in 2019, is coming up on 5 years.) Depending on age, battery cost equals or exceeds the value of the car. .
