First flat tire. Luckily it happened in the garage. Paid for tire and wheel insurance so we had the car towed to the Porsche dealer. Two weeks later we are still waiting for a tire. No one seems to have a Goodyear tire. I can't remember what I paid for the insurance but it was around $2500. I could have bought a complete set of wheels and tires for $6K. Maybe next time I will pass on the insurance and apply that amount to a set a wheels and tires.

I had that problem on my 2020 Carrera S and ended up sourcing a tire I found online at a local tire dealer. Car would have otherwise been laid up for two weeks waiting on one at Porsche dealer. Did not have insurance so at least I avoided that problem. Did get the insurance for on my new Taycan GTS, but mainly for covering the wheels.

is it a nail or screw? Plug it.

I've had two flats. Plugged them both without incident. Once I got a spare tire & jack setup of course I haven't had a flat. The tires eventually were replaced. I have had good luck getting the Goodyear all season tires that came on the car from my local Discount Tire store. They can usually get them in a few days. YMMV.

My biggest fear on a long road trip; a flat! For a recent long trek, my son insisted on renting a satellite phone for me, knowing I would be without cell service for extended periods.
Anyone research or have a full size spare option that works? Certainly something I should explore at my age.

Patch is much safer then a plug, Patch can only be done from the inside of the tire. Patch is more then safe for street driving. Track its a no-no. Also a no-no with patches or plugs is anything within an inch of the sidewall.

I carry a plug kit + pliers + gloves in all my cars. it's come in handy more than once. those goo cans are crap. and tire shops hate them.

I would never take a patched/plugged tire onto a track

I got a Cayenne inflatable spare from a Porsche recycler and a scissor jack from Amazon. The Cayenne jack doesn't fit the Taycan. The Taycan jack socket is much narrower than the Cayenne.
