Default used 2021 vs 2022 Taycan

Sorry to post what probably has been answered in other threads, but am trying to help my brother-in-law. He wants a CPO Taycan 4S and is trying to decide between lower priced 2020's and modestly more costly 2021 and 2022's. I saw the thread indicating not much difference between '20s and '21s other than the plug and charge support. Any reason to pay the extra 5-10k for 2022?

2020 if one likes being a guinea pig...as in fulfill your research needs. I had a 2020 4S. Emphasis on had.

If you get CPO I would go for the 2020 unless you plan to keep for five or six years. Just an fyi there is a CPO + which adds an additional year if you would like to add that to your car. If you get a 2020 just look at the service records to see if it had any re-occurring problems. As for the differences between 21-22 I do not believe there are any. The 2020-2021 difference were revised battery chemistry and plug and charge. Both of which I didn't care about. If the price differential between the model years is only 5k then go for it but everything I seen were at least 20k more.

The difference will just be longevity of the warranty.

Next summer I will be in the market for a Taycan for my spouse, and my dealer has told me he would give me a build slot for a CT 4S or just a 4S near the end of the year if I want it.

I am honestly having a hard to considering buying new at this point, even if there is a refresh incoming. Used 2020 and 2021 Taycan 4S models on CPO are hitting the mid to low 90s, and some dealers, particularly in Florida where competition is greater are dropping them to the high 80's. These are cars when new were selling for $130-140k. Optioned identically today and they are $10k more expensive due to price creep. I only imagine this dropping further as refreshes hit the market and more cars from these high production years come off lease. Heck, even some 2020 turbo models are going for less than $110k.

2 years ago and I wouldn't have given it a second thought going with a new build, but with used prices finally coming back down to earth, it's hard to justify wanting a newer more expensive Taycan when the differences between model years are minimal. I guess folks just need to ask if an extra year or two of warranty is worth their $10-20k. Plus, the battery is warrantied separately, and even the earliest models still have close to 5 years left and likely over 70k miles.
