Default 0Q Pure White - journal

The title is reference to the paint code, which was integral to my GT4 journal because I had wanted PTS.
Considered Mint Green this time, which would've nicely matched the track home's trim while recalling 50s era bathroom porcelain in a previous home, but ultimately decided to keep to an all white cars theme.

Initially looked at the VW EV for the twice a week 190 mile commute.
However, until production moved to the US there was no solid white, only metallic.
Being less efficient (no heat pipe, higher CD) than the Taycan, I would've had to stop and charge in cold weather.
Wanted to keep the weight down, so I went with the base RWD and standard Performance Battery.
Even though I'm in a snowy area, I have the luxury of waiting for the roads to be plowed.
The front of a car is for steering, the rear is for driving, and never the twain shall meet.
M5 4,345 lbs
ID.4 Standard (62/58kWh usable) 4,317 lbs
ID.4 Pro (82/77kWh usable) 4,557 lbs
ID.4 Pro AWD (82/77kWh usable) 4,788 lbs (+231 lbs for front motor, heated windshield and trailer hitch)
Taycan (79/71kWh usable) 4,566 lbs
-> Taycan (79/71kWh usable) 4,614 lbs (+48 lbs air suspension)
Taycan (93/84kWh usable) 4,742 lbs (+176 lbs PB+ <- 18% larger, 17% more HP, car 4% heavier)
Taycan (93/84kWh usable) 4,790 lbs (+176 lbs PB+, +48 lbs air suspension)
Taycan 4S (79/71kWh usable) 4,771 lbs (+157 lbs front motor, +48 lbs air suspension)
Taycan 4S (93/84kWh usable) 4,947 lbs (+157 lbs front motor, +48 lbs air suspension, +176 lbs PB+)

I love this car, in the outgoing M5 it felt like I was sitting on top of the suspension, now I'm part of it.

Now I understand charging profiles after seeing this video.

1. No profile, no timer: charges to 100%
2. Profile with optimized charging, no timer: charges to the profile's minimum
3. Profile with preferred charging period, no timer: charges to the profile's minimum, then charges to 100% within the profile's preferred times
4. Profile with optimized charging and timer: charges to the profile's minimum, then charges to the timer's scheduled maximum just in time
5. Profile with preferred charging period and timer: charges to the profile's minimum, then within the profile's preferred times charges to the timer's scheduled maximum, but not always just in time

This last combination, a profile with preferred charging period and a timer, may not work as expected.
Suppose you have a timer set for 85% at 17:20 Friday, and with 65% at 08:00 Monday you enable the profile.
It charges Monday within the 11:00 to 13:00 preferred charging period up to the timer's maximum.
This seems like a bug, I would expect it to wait until it gets closer to the day the timer is set to.

Location based profiles apparently must be set from the car, otherwise the red radius won't be seen in the iPhone application and it won't be seen as active.

...and this time it decided to work the whole 3 hour trip, possibly because the rain caused a camera error, so it may have been resetting itself.

I don't like holes drilled into the bumper, and the plate holder bosses are too narrow and set back from it's face to use double back tape without a modification.
This is for a GT4, but I did the same for the Taycan.

Fix for traffic sign recognition failing is to clean the windshield where the camera is.
Even though one of the wipers covers the area, apparently it also needs to be occasionally cleaned with Windex or similar.

Request for enhancement;
Instead of blank, show recuperation mode in grey on the instrument cluster while in ACC, similar to how the set speed is shown when out of ACC.
It can be changed while in ACC, and it would be useful to see confirmation.

Bug;
When ACC is set in the left tube or HUD, one press of the distance toggle does nothing, instead it should change because the bars are already visible.
If ACC isn't set to be displayed, one press makes the bars visible, then the next press makes the change.

Martin is making aero disks for 991 GT3 wheels.
I asked if he can make them for the Taycan 21" Mission E Design Wheels, he said that's possible on pre order for delivery around EOY.

Second best commute range to date.
3.8 miles per kWh over 208 miles at average 58 MPH, showed I had 63 miles to go, for 271 miles total.
Would have been over 60 MPH if I hadn't stopped at Chick-fil-A so my dog could have a french fry or three.
Set ACC to 67 MPH (65 MPH actual), temperatures between 65 and 71F, tire pressures 42 PSI front, 46 PSI rear.
I'm going slower to get used to winter range limitations.

So when it averages MPH is that average over time or distance? Based on your post I assume all it is doing is taking the elapsed time and distance and dividing them. Which as you are pointing out becomes problematic when trying to figure what your average speed is for consumption purposes.

Good question, it appears to just be based on time between starting the car and shutting it down.
