Oof that is not something I’d try with aliexpress parts (or probably even OEM parts)… Between having to figure out software and the fact that ACC needs to be reliable in stopping you from running into the car in front of you, seems too risky

I doubt very many people, if any have done this for a Taycan. I know people have done it on F150 forums but again that’s the most popular vehicle in the US, and even then it looks like quite a bit of work.

I would be surprised if you can enable ACC without factory support - it's not jsut the hardware - vehicle software has to be updated with Porsche certified PWISS codes and stuff, and then the newly installed hardware has to be calibrated with the Porsche service/technical computers - I'd venture this is impossible with out support from Porsche to "add" this functionality to the VIN…

good luck - but I'll be deeply surprised if you can pull this off.

On a different subject, why does Porsche make ACC optional on a ~$100k vehicle? $25k Ford Edge has this standard.

One could say the same for heated seats and steering wheel. On ICE cars they are luxuries. On EVs they are very useful for mitigating range loss in cool weather by reducing the need for cabin heater usage. Almost all but the cheapest EVs have them as standard equipment.

Porsche is the most profitable car manufacturer in the world.

Ha… you’re hardcore…

well, assuming you have all the right parts (ABS pump is different with ACC???), and get them installed, your first step would be access to a PIWIS with the very latest software that supports taycan. That will at least let you see what you can do with the various modules.

I don’t think the photo has all the parts required. For example, you need the radar sensor and all the associated brackets that fits in the front grill.

This is a fools errand, sell the non ACC car and buy one with it. And forget resale once you hack the ECM, Porsche will immediately cancel your warranty on the entire car forever and don’t quote Magnusson Moss law, you hacked the core of the car, Porsche will win that case in court.

I rather it remains to be optional. It gets very expensive if you need to repaint your bumper or simply fill the license plate holes. These sensors needs to be recalibrated each time you remove it.

Seems like a dangerous move to do this install on warrantied car. @Silververtu My 2021 Cross Turismo came with no license plate holes, are they on the newer models?
