Introducing myself here. Taycan is my 4th Porsche, I've always loved sharing information on this platform on my DIY and discoveries. First were a 991.1 GTS, then 991.2 GT3, 981 GT4 then kid(s) came... I always loved the Porsche brand, what it stands for, the build quality. I picked up my Taycan Base with Performance Batteries and PASM in May. After 7k miles logged, it now has become my go-to car for daily. Especially a cold day like today (-6 F outside), it is nice that the car can warm up or cool down the cabin while being inside the garage.
The issue with winter driving a Taycan it comes with summer tires. My go-to tire for the winter has been Continental DWS06, it has amazing ice and snow grip for being an all seasonal tire and lasts a very long time while being quiet. However, none of the DWS06 tire size combination would work on our car unless I go up one size up or down. After careful measurements, I ended up with Signature SV501 brushed billet 20x9 front and 20x11 rear to run DWS06 255/45/20 front and 295/40/20. (yes, I'm affiliated with Signature)
What I'm sharing here is 255/40/20 and 295/40/20 works perfectly on our chassis. Absolutely no rubbing with the right offset. Stock suspension shown, PASM was set to low.
Also, stock front 20" Taycan Turbo Aero wheel and 245/45/20 MPS4 tire weighs 62.44LB and rear weighs 66.44LB. My setup 20x9 DWS06 20x9 front weighs 53.00LB front and 58.86LB rear. That brings a total rotational weight savings of 34.04LB. Every pound of rotating mass removed is equivalent of removing 8.4LB of static weight. So that's equivalent of removing 285LB from the actual vehicle. I could feel the acceleration, turning weight, and braking to be improved. I own a track car, so very familiar what rotating mass could do to handling characteristic.

What do you think?
this is a great post!! thank you.
I'll be interested in consumption metrics (range) differences you perceive due to cold conditions and the different tires.

looking forward to more data!!!
thanks!
Thanks. The range hasn't change the few days I had this setup, similar temp. However, with today being -6 lowest, range took a big hit.. Probably 32-35% reduction compared to summer days. I learned that the Taycans get the best range around 85F with Eco AC+regen on. At 100% charge (when charged for a trip), I was able to see the range estimate at 315. You will notice even during nice 70F days with AC off and windows down, your battery temps tend to hover around 87F. Even at 70f, your car is heating up the battery pack to be warmer as electrons flow better at that temp, when ambient is around 85F the car doesn't waste much energy heating or cooling the pack as it's at its targeted temp is my hypothesis.
Regardless, the Taycan is my daily (not my travel car so range isn't a huge deal) and I charge it 3 times a week.. I needed tires that can claw through ice and snow, and can choose to leave it on all year if I forget to swap back to summers without an issue. I've driven the Taycan in the summer to a 250mi destination on a single stretch which is as far I would go on it. I have other means to travel further as waiting in a Walmart parking lot for 28min in the middle of the night isn't my idea of a good time (yes, I've done that once when I drove the Taycan home the first day). This specific Electrify America location is in the open, back of the dark area of a Walmart parking lot, without security camera in a small town. Felt like a sitting duck as I flew in to grab the car and drove back in the evening hours, without a gun on me.... Never charging at night again, lol
Below, I had winter tires on it as well as it was my daily before my kid arrived. =)

Been there, done that. The Taycan “gleams” anyplace, with $$$ pasted all over it, and 💰 💰 💴 💵 driver. I never know those lurking around mine; they could be admirers or someone with a shank.
Your car looks great. I recently put Michelin Cross Climate 2s/20-inch OZ rims on my 2021 Cross Turismo. The tires are excellent on snow, haven't dealt with any black ice yet.

Yes sir... Was sitting there in a Walmart parking lot 12:00a, small town USA. The back part of the parking lot isn't lit well and is far enough where there's no reason for anyone to drive back there, but yet old pickup truck after old pickup truck were driving by slowly to check the car out. Even saw a drug deal gone down 100 yards from me. Never been more vulnerable in my whole life and I grew up in the hood.
If you want to feel what a hot woman alone feels like on a New York subway at midnight, that is probably the same feeling...

That's great. I heard great things about those tires as well.
Stock front 20" Taycan Turbo Aero wheel and front 245/45/20 MPS4 tire weighs 62.44LB and rear 285/40/20 weighs 66.44LB. I'm actually a bit shocked these Turbo aero wheels were so heavy. Just to give you an idea, on my previous 991.1 GTS, 981 GT4, and 991.2 GT3 I was only able to improve by 1-2LB per corner with Signature wheels as they're lightweight forged out of the factory already. For EV, every pound removed helps as it is super heavy compared to a gas car.

Could you share your wheel and tire sizes also? Those Cross Climate 2's are awesome, btw.
I think the OZ look pretty decent. I have Blizzaks for my Cayenne and they do great but plan to replace my Cayenne all season tires with the cross climate 2 this spring. I hope the CT is not as hard on tires as my Cayenne.

Reason: add info
I just picked up a CT4 and it came with Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue summer tires, wish it'd come w/ the Cross Climate 2's. Don't under why the factory would put summer tires on a CROSS Turismo?
I am really annoyed with why they put summer tires on anything but sports cars. Really irritating.
I just bought a BMW M850i and it came with summer tires. It was friggin 18 degrees and icy outside, I couldn’t drive it home! I switched to the same tires as the OP and it grips perfectly. I plan to daily drive this car so one set of tires all year long is fine for me.
I can see summer tires belonging on, say a 911, or a full blown BMW M car or an AMG product, or supercars (Audi R8, McLaren, Ferrari). But I don’t understand why they are selling Taycans and M-lite BMW’s and so many other cars, particularly in cold climates, with those. Performance all seasons should be standard.
Correct. You want summer tires on a performance car when it's warm. For winter, I prefer DWS06 for snow and ice capabilities. You're really not supposed to drive on summer if weather dips below 40, it's hard as a hockey puck.
