Default Motor Trend Deep Dive into Macan EV

https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024...st-look-review

Looks like Motor Trend got a nice preview of the PPE platform. Seems as if Porsche has learned a bunch from the Taycan including smaller pack buffer, different battery chemistry, split 800/400V charging and cleaning up the electronics. @daveo4porsche and I always said the Taycan was a veritable rats nest of wires and hardware compared to a Tesla (and now a Lucid). Macan is much tidier.

As good as the Taycan is, I think this one's going to be a huge winner, and a huge success. Porsche knows the range it needs to sell, and is selling this in their most popular body shape. I'm sure it won't be as sporty as a Taycan being quite a bit higher but I'm betting it blows anything in the space out of the water.

Looks like Car and Driver got similar access:

I will definitely think about swapping my Ioniq for an EV Macan once it's available. Agreed that this is probably going to be the "just right" format of EV for most buyers.

I'll wait one model year to get the new Macan EV so they have time to iron out the bugs and gremlins like they did with the Taycan.

If they can keep the base MSRP in the $60's they are going to sell a TON of these.

Maybe the absolute base model, but the Q4 e-tron with the dual motor setup starts at a $54k. I'm guessing high $60s, and well into the $80s with decent options.

It augurs really good things for the next generation of the taycan, whenever that might be (definitely after the macan launch)

That would do it. 9/10 Macan's you see on the road are loaner spec base's. My GTS was over $90k in 2017, so a range topping model starting near or even over $100 wouldn't be out of line...

As long as it's porsche and as long as it "fits" with in their line-up price points - price is irrelevant given that they are selling all the Taycan's they can make at 150k+

And this is the only section of the forum dedicated to EV's. The Macan owners have proven they aren't really interested in the next generation, mostly. Also, these articles do pertain to the Taycan in that they discuss lessons learned, and changes from the Taycan platform to the new one.

So.....what's the issue?

My wife, who couldn’t care less about sports cars or Porsche, said after riding in the taycan “they are going to make a cross over like this ? Get me one”

@daveo4porsche you and the damn massage seats. Nobody in my family will ride in any of the other cars after the taycan. Thank you ? Maybe ?

Same story here. My wife previously drove our 21 Macan GTS and now swaps between our 22 Taycan and 22 Cayenne GTS coupe. She misses the size and ride height of the Macan, but loves the smoothness of the Taycan. She couldn’t care less about cars in general, but has made it a point to ask about the Macan EV…
