page 2 of the Porsche Wall charger installation manual shows the different breaker sizes supported by the Porsche Wall charger
https://d9w5i958y8lo6.cloudfront.net...jdlNzBmODYxYjY
Porsche Wall Charger supports the following breaker sizes
15 amp breaker w/10 amp output
15 amp breaker w/12 amp output
20 amp
30 amp
40 amp
50 amp
60 amp
80 amp
100 amp
it also supports 120V or 240V or 208V configurations
basically it’s the most flexible and capable EVSE on the market right now and really looks like a Tesla Wall Charger Gen1 or Gen2 which had similar capabilities (but Tesla no longer sells Gen1 or Gen2 Wall chargers)
Get the Porsche Wall Charger and the biggest breaker the county will allow.

my recommendation is
Power Wall Charger - https://shop.porsche.com/us/en/porsc...%24B-HCHH0LAA/
Custom “hardwired” circuit at maximum breaker size you can afford
Install the Porsche Wall charger and configure it to match the breaker size (it has multiple settings for various breaker sizes - so really it can support _ANY_ charging capacity and has no fixed capacity)
the table above indicates clearly the advantage of 240V vs. 120V and even bumping from 20 to 30 makes a difference in over all charging times.

Porsche Wall Charger for the Win!! Highly recommend this charger for your situation given it’s flexibility in supporting multiple breakers sizes so it can be customized to fit your household’s requirements.
see screen shots below from the install manual.

We must have been saving the images almost simultaneously The dip switch settings for 240 V split phase are important and may be overlooked by the electrician if this is their first install. I believe it comes with both set to off. If this happens you'll get an "Unable to Charge Grounding Error" or somesuch. Just make sure they set #1 to On and #2 to Off and the error will disappear. Unless of course you do have a grounding error.

Three common 120V receptacles are:
- NEMA 5-15 - the 15 amp receptacles we are all familiar with. Continuous power is 12 amps x 120 V = 1.44 kW
- NEMA 5-20 - the 20 amp version of the 5-15. Continuous power up to 16 amps x 120 V = 1.92 kW
- TT-30 - "Travel Trailer" 30 amp common in the RV community. Continuous power up to 24 amps x 120 V = 2.88 kW
Like most/all EVSE’s I’ve encountere over the past 8 years it simply just works with 120V or 240V power sources…
@whiz944 is 100% correct in the kW ratings
- NEMA 5-15 is the normal househould outlet - Porsche PMC+/PMCC will work just fine from one of these plugs
- NEMA 5-20 is less common but still possible - Taycan charges fine from NEMA 5-20 but you need a NON Porsche EVSE - Porsche does not make/supply/support the settings for a NEMA 5-20 plug with the PMC+/PMCC - but if you have a NEMA 5-20 capable EVSE (mustart/Tesla UMC for example) - the Taycan will charge just fine @ 1.92 kW
- NEMA TT-30 - I’ve personally tested this will a Tesla UMC Gen2 charger at my local KOA - the Taycan charges at the higher 2.88 kW charge rated expected from this setup - again you can’t do this with a Porsche EVSE but there are non-Porsche EVSE’s that support this.
- you can do this w/porsche PMC+/PMCC - you’ll need a NEMA TT-30 to NEMA 6-30 adapter and the NEMA 6-30 supply cable from porsche for your PMC+/PMCC
- however: Porsche charges SOOOOOO much $$$$ for their supply cables - that for the cost of the NEMA 6-30 supply cable you can purchase an ENTIRE EVSE with the necessary supply cable and potentially others…so before giving porsche $200 or $300 for the NEMA 6-30 supply cable consider puchasing a Mustart or Tesla UMC Gen2 mobile EVSE which has a wide range of NEMA adapters for maximum EV road warrior attack capacity.

for those wishing to travel with their EV’s and willing to invest in high capability but low utilization scenarios the following articles have been well received and layout the fundementals of traveling with an EV in North America and being “prepared” with support for virtually any type of electical plug you might encounter…read at your peril…
I’ll emphasize again the LOW UTILIZATION aspect of this/these approaches - but you can charge from virtually any electrical outlet in North America if you equip yourself with various NEMA plug adapters…

Thank you everyone for taking the time and effort to write detailed information. With all this information it seems a solution is possible. I'm going to go ahead and order the Taycan. The car won't arrive until the end of March or first of April. I should be able to have a charging solution in place by then. Thank you all again.

I haven't noticed that Porsche Wall Charger before. I thought that was just a wall mount box to put your Porsche charger in. So that is a direct wire charger and box combination? I thought the Charger Connect was more than $1500 by itself plus the cost of the mounting box.
I bought a United Chargers Alpha for $599 which has selectable current options (16 to 40 amp) on the screen which finally works now.

Porsche Wall Charger for the win - it’s a great choice for a configurable EVSE that can go up to 100/80 amps…or down to 15 amps. Just an all around great choice IMHO.

Here's an update. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. This is what I'm dealing with. The worksheet is Per Article 220 National Electrical Code. I'm having to resubmit another worksheet... because ..... I'll try to keep this brief
First worksheet:
200A service x 80% allowable usage = 160A
With the 50A added to the Load my usage is 160.3A Denied for being .3 over
But wait there's more. Now the County says the square footage of the house is wrong on the first worksheet. The electrician put down 3600 but the County says 4200. So now I'm fighting over the actual square footage of the house. The County is probably correct which is bad news for me because the Load is now more than the 160.3. Anyway, we submitted a new worksheet yesterday. I haven't seen the new number. Hope to get the answer today.
As an aside, I'm still ordering the Taycan. I've got 3 months to make this work.

I just went through this on a reno. I'm surprised the electricians did not suggest an interlock as the calculated load is for simultaneous usage. Chances are you will be charging overnight so the interlock will just lock out the use of other high load items (dryer, range, etc.) We have 189A service and had to interlock the AC, range, dryer and car charger. Luckily, after consultation with the inspector they allowed the Porsche Energy Manager as a replacement to interlocking the charger so you could go this route as well. Obviously this is dependant on county/municipality and how current they are on technology.
