if you just wanna charge you could get a nema 6-20 to nema 5-15 adapter and power would flow but only at 12 amps instead of 16 amps
20 amp circuit = max charge rate 16 amps
if you want to maximize the circuit you’d need a 3rd party evse or a PMCC and dial the amps down to 16 to be safe

looks like a nema 6-20 - no porsche adapter for it - you’d need a 3rd party evse - i have that plug type for tesla umc gen1

I just bought a condo and I found this plug in the garage. I am wondering if it is worth it to rewire it with 6 guage wire and upgrade it to a 50 amp outlet 14-50 or just buy a new EVSE and live with the slower charge rates.

assuming it's 240 - 240 * 12 amps = 2.88 kW - or about 9 mile of charge per hour
if you get another EVSE that directly supports setting the amps to 16 amps - 240 * 16 = 3.84 kW - or about 12 miles of charge per hour
8 hours of charging at 3.84 kW should yield about 30 kWh or 35% battery charge…
you can maximize the charge rate wiht a PMCC by doing the following:
purchase a 6-20 to NEMA 14-50 adapter from amazon
plug the PMCC into the adapter and the adapter into the wall socket (6-20)
then go to the settings menu on the PMCC and dial back the AMPs to 16 amps - which would be the safe amount of power to pull across a 20 amp circuit…
then your PMCC will pull close to the maximum power for that type of outlet…
you can't do this with a PMC+ -becuase you onlyl have the 50% button - and they only have 40 amp settings and 24 amp supply cables…50% of 40 amp is 20 amps - too much current for a NEMA 6-20 - and 50% of 24 amps is 12 amps…which is the same as just using the NEMA 5-15 adapter…
one should also probably find the breaker that feeds that socket and verify it's a 20 amp breaker - if you're really OCD I'll pull the faceplate apart and verify the gauge of the wire is correct, but 16 amps doesn't require wire that is too beefy…so it's proably fine…

purchase a amazone 6-20 to 14-50 adapter - use the 30 amp Prosche supply cable with the PMC+ - press the 50% button - and it will be set to 15 amps current draw - only one amp shy of ideal maximum…
but if you have a PMCC you can set the amp's via settings directly to 16 amps…
or you can buy an EVSE (Tesla or Mustart) that directly have a NEMA 6-20 adapter cable, which would set the EVSE 16 amps when that adpater cable is connected to the EVSE…

You could also buy a real 16 amp evse. Many of them were designed for Volts and early Leafs that only had a 16 amp on-board charger. For example, this outfit seems to be closing out the old AeroVironment TurboCord at a pretty reasonable price:

Another idea: since the wiring is run through conduit, it may be easy to pull heavier gauge wiring through it and do a 30 amp circuit with a 6-30 receptacle. Maybe even squeeze in 40- or 50 amp wiring with a 6-50 receptacle. Have an electrician take a look.

I agree, I am going to have to have an electrician look at what I have and then attempt to install 6 guage wiring, a 14-50 plug and a 50 amp breaker if possible. it is a terribly long run from the breakers to the garage level.

Pulling three wires through existing conduit is easier than pulling four wires. So that is why I suggest investigating 6-30 or 6-50 instead of a 14-series receptacle.
