I didn't find a thread on this so I'm posting this in case someone needs it. This is part of the 20k mile service listed in the owner's manual. Dealership tested break fluid and it required no change.
1. Pull on the small part of the pin and it'll fall out, there are two of them in red
2. The cover panel will come out, a footwell light is attached, set it aside
3. Press the two pins towards each other and the cover will come out. Once the two tabs are off, slide it down to remove it.
4. This is the orientation the air filter sits inside the vehicle
5. Another visualization of how it sits inside the vehicle. You'll have to squeeze it into the filter housing in order to fit.
That's it! Just a pair of pliers is all you need. Here's a comparison of used filter with 20k miles vs new.
As a follow up I discovered Pelican Parts has an aftermarket Taycan cabin air filter made by Airmatic, P/N IF1312P. Less than $20. I've paid $80 at Sun Coast & local dealer.
Whew - am 6'3" and the contortionist in me barely survived
Not complicated but awkward. FYI if you don't have 8mm then 5/16 works fine. Things that helped were positioning a folding chair next to the open passenger door and a headlamp. I was trying to unfasten the 3 plastic screws in the back until I realized that the dealership failed to put them back in when they previously did this task! Just unhooked the foot well light. Start to finish was < 30 minutes…
Here's the video versions...looks to be in Chinese with subtitles but simple enough to repeat by watching. OP post above helps fill in the blanks. Will be doing mine next week. Need to still reset the indicator though in the PCM. Anyone with an idea on how to do that? May end up acquiring an Autel MK808BT as will use that to reset my oil service on my 992 also.
Did mine today...these posts helped alot. Easy to do but now how to reset the service reminder is the next question? Old filter removed Lots of leaves and debris post removal of old filter New filter ready for installation. Old filter left and new filter right. Yes looks like it did its job filtering.
I've changed my cabin air filter twice so far. I found Pelican Parts had the best deal on the cabin air filters. As far as reset of the service indicator I haven't found a way to do it independent of the dealer. All my local Porsche shops don't have a version of PIWIS that will talk to the Taycan. What I did was pay my dealer to do an inspection for ~$179. They reset the service indicator during the inspection. I presented the receipts for the brake fluid, wipers & cabin air filter that I had changed.
The maintenance schedule calls for the pollen filter to also be changed. I can't find any information on this. I know many Porsches have two filters. Anyone know where the pollen filter is located and how to change it?
