I had a chance to drive a Taycan Turbo yesterday. It was a rocket. It looks great from the outside and has much more comfortable seats than a Tesla Model S. However, there were a few things I did not like. The driver's instrument cluster is goofy looking. It's as if it's just stuck on like a tablet versus integrated into the dash like all the other Porsches. I also didn't like the glass roof. Although it's heavily tinted dark blue, I wish it had a sunshade (the Tesla Model S didn't have a sunshade either). The transmission "shifter" if also very odd looking; as if they took the shifter from the 992 and moved it.

Just drove it today too. I agree the shifter is odd, but I got used to Tesla’s odd shifter and I’ll get used to this one. The instrument cluster looked very un-tablet like to me, and i think that the BMW tablet style infotainment system looks silly, so I guess ir depends on perspective. As it is shaped and curved, it feels good to me. You can get it without the glass roof and I might if it didn’t mean a wait to avoid glare.

A few photos of the Taycan Turbo S that showed up at my local dealer this week. No test drives unless you were a super VIP however!

I think the dealer might be confused about the need to charge the 12V Battery -

let's see - watts = volts * amps
12 volts * 15 amps = 225 watts

so 84 kWh (usable capacity in the Taycan)
84 kWh / .225 kW = 373.33 hours to fully charge the Taycan - 15.5 days.

but now we know the Taycan has a 12 volt battery - what I'd love to know is when/how/if the big battery charges the 12 volt battery.

I thought that was humorous also. The dealer should have a proper ac charger on the floor to demonstrate to first time EV buyers how to plug in the car. Then you don’t need to trickle charge the 12v battery.
