No test drive. I was there to drive the GT3, and as far as I know there aren't yet any venues for ordinary members of the public to drive.
I did get to sit in a 4S at the LA Auto show the previous day (they're locked on the show floor, but if you ask nicely and show them a build sheet...) and that's my first experience 'behind the wheel' in any form. I was delighted with how similar the seating position was to my 991 Carerra S, and that the rear seat room as exactly as seen in reviews: the foot room is challenging getting in, but pretty comfy once you get situated. The displays are beautiful, particularly the one behind the steering wheel. The big surprise was that both the front and rear trunks seemed much larger than I had expected based on watching several previous videos. So, no driving. Only sitting. The good news is that I want one more after seeing it in person and touching it.
Wiley - did you test drive it? If so. Got any thoughts?
at LA PEC, absolutely not. Staff was happy to help with selfies and talk about it, but most of them aren’t permitted to touch the cars. They aren’t a part of PEC fleet. I did chat with one instructor who had taken the white turbo S out for work, and he was extremely positive, even when I pressed him about how heavy and fat the cars are. He said it had so much torque instantly available it really didn’t feel that heavy. fwiw.
PEC expects to have driving experiences with taycan later in 2020, after Q1. Not sure how the production delays will effect that. They told others they don’t expect to support delivery until 2021 (maybe late 2020).
If I could have gotten the concept wheels I would have went with white, know most people don't like them. But I do, I really came close to getting silver, the silver black combo was pretty awesome. I think any color Is going to be a head turner, how lucky are we to see and be apart of history, first electric Porsche and to own one.. pretty wow.
White or Black???? Still ca’t decide. What do you think?
Personally don't like it in black at all. Loses all definition of the sculpture of the body lines, and loses all the contrast with the black vents and intakes. Looks too much like a melted blob to me. But you have to do you.
I do agree white shows more angles and black is more slimming, I never liked white, but the concept changed my mind on that. I read where white is the lightest of all paints, so might when a race. Truth is there are no ugly porsches, even 996's are gaining in popularity.
