Well there goes that...
I am on the waitlist and was informed they should be starting around $85k, I know that it is fairly common for manufacturer's to start releasing their fully optioned models first, but was not expecting this type of pricing.
I'm on standby.

OK, so they’ll make about 1500 of these a year. I am worried for Germany. It seems like they won’t be competitive in this century, still clutching to diesel for volume. The most clueless part of that car (there are many) is putting 2 identical center screens — why not just put one big f******* screen? Wow. I am just astounded.
The options sheet is disappointing. $600 for cabin sound. Why the hell does it need a sport chrono option? It just makes no sense. It’s not an internal combustion vehicle! Did anyone tell them?!

Panamera .2 EV (Taycan) Turbo $150,900
Panamera Turbo $153,000
Panamera .2 EV (Taycan) 4S $103,000 (projected)
Panamera 4S $105,000
Add in options and I bet a decent Taycan 4S is $120,000. After a short bit of time with discount you're looking at something like $110,000.
Basically, 2x the price of a Model 3 Performance for a car without the supercharger network and arguably inferior tech.

I know that in some models Sport Chrono comes with some stuff that affects how it drives but consider the GT cars. It's just a clock and gives you some lap timer software and stuff. That's all perfectly applicable to the Taycan.

I don't understand this. I mean... it's a clock? What's that got to do with the motor?

I guess I don't really care because after seeing this absolute disaster of a reveal I now have zero intention of purchasing one. Not only did it hit the low mark on range I expected it to hit based on the numbers I saw from the eTron, but they also bumped the price about $25,000 higher than I expected.

And I can’t think how stupid those screens will look in 5 years because they are hopelessly dated today. It’s damn shame they can’t update them or do something more creative.

I think I am getting my deposit back...
They are going to sell like hotcakes but honestly not the value price point I was imagining.. They obviously did their market research and went for it. They're going to make a lot of money...
In the meantime, model 3 gives me everything I need from an electric car for now...in addition to instant acceleration and decent handling and traction, it has an excellent self-driving feature (yes I know, can't rely on it all the time) but it makes stop and go traffic no longer a chore and that all I need it to do for me.
For the fun stuff, still have to go to ICE, no matter how good the synthetic sound generators get...

...but I guess the opportunity for them to release a cheaper model that will sell is still there.
