Is the Taycan too BIG
#2
IMHO, I would prefer a bit shorter. wheel base and roofline are nearly identical to the Pano. It would have been interesting to see other prototype Taycan models superimposed over this; possible, shorter overall length and some form of rear design without sacrificing the rear pass headroom. when the real deal shows up here in S. FL, I'll be checking it out.

So no...for a four door it's not too big. Should they have made it a coupe? I bet they're saving that to be the all-electric 911.

IMHO the size is too close to the Panamera....which is huge. I was hoping something closer to the Tesla 3 size. The statement on the slide is false... “perfectly between the 911 and Panamera”? It is closer to a Panamera. Also let’s also not kid ourselves... the 911 has grown over the years way too much. Sorry for the rant... I’m sure many will disagree. Curious how much it has grown from the concept? Maybe it’s all in my head? Crossing my fingers that’s the case.

The new 911 is 178in
New Panamera is 198in
Tesla Model 3 is 185in
BMW 3 series is 185in
BMW 5 series is 195in
Based on the picture the Taycan is about 2/3 closer to the Panamera than the 911 which would make it about 191in. Half a foot longer than the Model 3. Closer to 5 series size. So clearly they could have made it more compact.
It's not small.
Edit:
Based on the Autocar article it's 189.5in. Also 2in wider than the Panamera. Which is cool.
"The Taycan is around 4850mm in length and 1990m in width, making it 199mm shorter but 53mm wider than the Panamera. By comparison, the Model S is 4975mm long and 1965mm wide."

Exactly. That hoodline is a lot lower. A much smaller hard point to worry pedestrian crash standards. It will make a noticeable difference.

I hope it’s as close to Panamera size as possible, at least on the inside if not on the outside. I’m looking at it as a DD and want it to be comfortable for rear seat passengers and have decent cargo room for Target runs (will probably get the wagon version that’s presumably on offer).
I would hope that being all electric, Porsche could make Taycan as roomy inside as a Panamera while keeping the exterior a few inches shorter, if not less bulbous too with no ICE up front and no 4WD transmission tunnel.

Panamera is a much different shape because it has that giant 600 pound V8 in front. Model 3 and Taycan have the classic rear engine Porsche nose.

I'd much prefer it smaller but I look at it this way - it would not be any lighter if it were a half foot shorter. RWS will help it feel smaller when needed. It does wonders for the new Cayenne.
