Heck of an adventure you were on. Thanks for taking us along.
As I say, we are all very fortunate to have these brilliant cars.
Our total mileage was 2,666 miles, of which the car handled it all in its stride.
Be it mountain passes, track time, autobahn prolonged sprints (cruising at 125mph was cool, plus a couple of runs over 155mph ) or long sessions in the drivers seat. 10 hours was our record day. And still able to walk away and all this with the roof off.....
What other car would I rather have on such a journey ?????
Get planning those adventures gentlemen.... these cars are made for fun.
No fancy backdrops here, either. Jeez, this one makes the Office Depot look glamorous. Just picked it up after Xpel front end + cquartz finest (including wheels, which they took off to coat with cquartz). Brake dust sucks. Hope this helps!
All these pix are making me think I should drive my car from IA to AZ instead of shipping it- once you get past Nebraska I could take some pix like these!!
Having made that drive (well actually from Chicago) I can tell you you definitely should. But only under one condition: You have to stay off the interstates. Makes the drive so much better.
Yeah those country roads are something to behold, and our country offers so much visual variety, but beware of road debris! I had some undercarriage damage from a large piece of metal laying flat on the road - apparently from a semi's undercarriage(irony). My car is with Walters' in Riverside being repaired and they have been great so far.
BTW the best time to do this is in May! I did it in December and New Mexico was a nightmare! Let's just say I'm happy to be alive. I've driven across the country in a Mini JCW, a BMW 135, and now in two different Spyders- Spyder hands down the best. And obviously for me the LwBS were a pita after 10 hours lol. Kind of like riding a road bike for the first time.

Reason: laying/lying?
Gorgeous shots Jean. GR is a terrific color. What a terrific drive. Enjoying your Spyder on the open road. Awesome. Btw, how's everything with your car?

Well looks like about 5grand of work to make it new again. USAA is my insurance and they are pretty good. In a shop that Walters' in Riverside sends contracts out for body work which for me means replacing undercarriage panels and the front bumper and air conditioning line. They so far have been communicative which is nice. Everyone there was all smiles and they offered beverages. Seeing I might move out there this Summer, I'll probably buy my next car for them.

I'm glad to hear it's nothing too serious. Road hazards are out there. A front bumper is a typical wear and tear item. The front bumper on my 981S despite the clear bra needed to be resprayed. Had I kept that car I probably would have replaced it for the complete factory fresh look. I'm sure you'll get your car back good as new.
Bottom line, you got to take your car on a pretty amazing journey, If you drive the car enough you will get the occasional cut or scrape, But I much rather be out there playing then watching from the window.
